I have an old Dixco myself. It still works fine. Came with a timing light in a set. The timing light was to dim for aging eyes so I did upgrade to an adjustable.

What is left of them usually sticks to the firewall. If you have redone the firewall it is gone.

Looks like someone took the wire wheel on a bench grinder to it. I would say $50 bucks to worthless.

Your cam instructions will dictate the first half hour. After that if it is in the car I vary RPMs for awhile watching all the vitals. They say new ring materials don,t really need to "seat" but I still see a little blow by for a while.

One of the members here has a BB car. When he chimes in bet he knows. I have been leaning to "different" color combos lately myself which that car is.

General Discussion / Re: Stock DZ302 ideal performance....

Torque is a big thing on the street. I was at a seminar on big block heads and a guy asked "why did GM even make the peanut port  head for a big block? " Because small ports make torque, but they do not at high RPM.

You probably want to post the cast date?

Originality / Re: 1969 396 / 325 HP AIR CLEANER

Thanks William, I have seen and had them but did not think that they were "correct". I kind of like them look wise.

I think the cam is part of it. But big valves, big carb, ect. means low air velocity and torque. An engine is like a vacuum pump and the 302 needs RPM to pull air. Standard rear was 373 but they really like 410,s.

I have posted before about most of the magazine articles of the day. Not just production numbers but simple things like "picture of one owner original Z with very few options, came with plain steel wheels " and article has pictures to prove it. I know that is what the writer was told but a qualified writer should know better. Many articles about all makes like that. I think they should get someone to proof read their stuff.

It has been too long ago for me to help. Now you know why you see so many with the doors open all the time.

Mild Modifications / Re: Prothane poly bushings in leafsprings

I was going to use all poly on my last car but the shop owner just shook his head. Hard ride and noisy he said. He uses them on his VIR car but does not street drive it much.
