General Discussion / Re: Gang stamp anomaly in hidden VIN
« on: December 05, 2023, 09:47:39 PM »
My 69 SS has the last digit missing on the cowl vin. Never had the heater box off to check that one. Trans vin is complete, motor is a CE block.

I changed the non original m21 to a m20 in my 1969 Z with 4:10,s to make easier to pull off from dead stand stills. Did in my 64 vette with 4:11,s also.

so many people watch Barrett Jackson and Mecum and think any muscle car is gold. They don,t understand how easy it is to add SS or Z28 emblems.

I noticed that also but I think it is the camera angle causing it to look that way.

While you testing in the driveway use your turn signals also. Might be a short in that wiring

I had an original paint 68 camaro Grotto Blue. That Grotto Blue has been doctored up when it was mixed. For the better IMO.

There was an article about the Dave Miller recreation in MCM recently also. Also said they launched with a 7k drop from neutral.

Maintenance / Re: Engine Oil Additives
« on: October 16, 2023, 01:07:07 AM »
If it really has only 41k it had to sit up a long time. Drive it and change the oil every 1000 miles or so and maybe a good additive. Unless it got worse than a slight tick, I would hold off on tear downs. New lifters you get today might even tick worse. I bought what I thought was the best lifters when I changed the cam in my 396 325 and they are not silent by any means no matter how I adjusted them.

General Discussion / Re: Dupont Cronar Color Code
« on: October 04, 2023, 12:22:27 PM »
First off I am not a painter. But have over years tryed to get matches for colors like rally green, tiger gold and others. I agree spray outs are the way to go and different brands of paint are well different. It really helps for the painter to have years of experience for that time when it is sprayed on the car and just needs a couple drops of ? to really look good.

Maintenance / Re: Another PCV Valve Setup Question
« on: October 02, 2023, 05:49:42 PM »
a 67 engine has a hole by the distributer hole which has a tube leading to the air cleaner base to draw air from inside the air cleaner. 68 and later blocks do not have this hole. The fresh air from the air cleaner goes in the vale cover and the PCV is in the opposite valve cleaner.

that is not the correct oil fill cap. Should be non venting if that is the correct PCV setup for your car.
