Mild Modifications / Re: Tri-Power 427 fit under 69 SS hood?
« on: December 15, 2017, 10:12:25 PM »
The unit should come next week. We have a 427 on a test stand that I will put it on to tune before I install it on the Camaro. I will post some pic,s.

It is good to hear the father sons doing cars together (or other stuff). I am not sure my two sons can check oil correctly. In fact they are both in their 30,s and neither have learned to drive a manuel shift. My best memories of my dad are the day he brought home a 327 for my 61 impala and told me to install it while he was out of town. I was so proud when he got home and I actually had it running. A few years later after a cam change I had to explain to him that he could not adjust the carb to get the idle to smooth out.

It is a long shot but there is still stuff out there. I know a guy who has 7 or 8 muncies and about half have vins. No Norwood, but shows there are still there. Heck even my 64 vettes NOM engine is a 65 327 350HP with a vin that I should post on a vette site but I have not yet. Just hope the finder is not one of the guys that will hold it for ransom.

Agreed, I have them on my SS. Although they are repop 15,s I just always liked their look and it is something different.

I am not that quick with POP,s but I think it is a little to late for the SS wheels and for real patina I think the new seat covers look out of place.

I think what you are looking at on the steering is the reverse lever for the backup lights and the starter lockout. Probably in the reverse position to allow it to start with backup lamps removed. Several other things to look at to see if it is a possible Z.

I have used worse. I used silver gasket sealer ( can hardly see it ). I cannot remember the brand but I used a gasket that covered the 2 holes. No problems.

I can see the $$$. Some guys are doing this with the mid year vettes with even more $$$. Nice work just not my cup of tea. But then again neither is a 200+ mph new car either.

When I got my 69 it had a 68 hurst shifter. During resto they installed a tunnel repair part for the shifter hole and must have used the 68 shifter to align it. Using the 69 mount plate I could not engage 2nd or 4th gear because the shifter hit the tunnel metal. Since mine is a non console car I was able to shave some metal off the tunnel and make it work. Mine did not take 2 inches and factory boot covered it all (with the mounting holes relocated). Not factory correct but it did work.

From the picture your engine looks to good to pull.

Could be that LOS tags are easier to build a fake with. Since they had a multi model line the numbers are harder to check. Plus in 69 no X codes so you fake whatever.
