Comp grinds the LS6 in Hydraulic, I have one sounds good idles 750 to 800
DUI will curve you an HEI to match your cam, comp, weight, and gear. I have not tried it but it sounds good.
Power feelings will come from your gears. My is a dog with 3.36. I think the cam cannot get to its range quick enough but it was a dog with the stock cam also.

If you ever read Muscle Car Confessions about the factory supplying test cars you get the feeling that most were just not pulled from some dealers lot. So what is to verify? Like testing a 389 GTO that later was said to be a 428.

Restoration / Re: Kick panel restore - paint, dye, or protectant ???

I did mine with rattle can interior dye from local paint store. I cannot remember the name of it but I remember it said for vinyl or cloth which surprised the paint guy because he did not know they made it. Armoral scares me because is you ever want to paint it makes a mess'

General Discussion / Local club show in NC
« on: November 03, 2015, 07:54:28 PM »
Went to a show Saturday. For years there has been a rumor that deceased son,s dad had his 69Z in a basement since 1975. Well he was at the show with car. It was not a real Z. After talking to him us both being local and a few other old guys we discovered it was an old friend of mines 69 SS RS, hugger Orange, 4 speed,PS,PB,console, and factory tach. I told him he does not need doc,s, I rode in it  in 69. Old memories. No, he still will not sell it.

A neighbor of mine (now passed) built Busch car engines. As a favor he did my 327 365hp. We used the stock cam, heads, and dropped the comp to 10 to1. He told me I could DRIVE it at 7 grand and I do. Lots of top shops small and large in NC.

General Discussion / Re: hood insulation and drain tubes
« on: October 26, 2015, 08:11:53 PM »
Do not remember drains on mine.(years ago) But it stays inside. But as a word of caution, my 77 trans am has a drain on the shaker hood that clogged up. When the engine locked up we all just said well. When I drained the pan it was several gallons of water in the pan. Even though it had sat outside over a year without starting and full of water it started right up and I have been driving it for two years. The water had pushed the oil past the rings which I guess saved it. In short do not let drains dump on the air cleaner.

I think the 68Z has joined the 69Z club. There are more out there than the number produced.
