That vin is 800 cars after my 12A 69 which has no X code and is part of NCRS missing production docs.

Just thinking, does the "blue" appear to be one of the blue option colors from 67?

Originality / Re: 69 RS Z28 Rally Sport emblem question

Not that I have ever dealt with this dealer I have noticed they seem to advertise whatever is told to them even if it is apparently wrong.

My brother and I stripped his 69 with trim tag showing white. The car had a repaint done in white but when we took it apart and stripped it we found traces of a similar blue in the package tray and other hidden areas. Not on the bottom I remember. It was enough for us to question the trim tag as to original to the car. The vin and tag numbers checked out and rivets looked untouched. It was an 04 Norwood X33. The interior was black.

The guy that did my Firebird put repops in it without asking me. They are slow and seem weak. He threw my originals away. I am not happy about. If you go that route be sure take recommendations from others on this site about which ones to buy.

Maintenance / Re: 1969 Z28 spark plugs
« on: March 19, 2024, 11:24:46 AM »
I haven,t seen one of those spark plug cleaners since my high school auto mechanics shop class in the 70,s. It worked really well. My 68 GTO would misfire pretty bad above 3k RPM, a trip through the cleaner for the plugs would clear it up nicely.

I remember the older smallblocks (pre PCV system) would sludge up the heads and #8 plug would foul out along with smoking and oil comsumption. Had nothing to do with the lifters.

I think the 3.36 might be best also. Especially if you are leaving the 210hp stock.

Anyone else ever seen a Carolina blue SS ? Any pics?

I previously posted that here in central NC carolina blue was very popular in the 60,s and 70,s, There Chevelles, Camaro,s, Nova,s, and Monte Carlo,s around here that were original paint cars. Back then we did not even know what a trim tag was about. A 68 Chevelle L78 ordered Carolina Blue is still near here near Burlington NC. The UNC at Chapel fans were ordering them through Harris Conner Cheverolet CH NC. And Carpenter Cheverolet in Durham NC.

I did the snug the screw on my manual steering box on my 64 vette years ago. Did not help the situation. Ended up replacing the box.

The first set of pictures show the right front fender without SS emblems. Kind of appears to not have the wheelwell trim that shows in the last picture. The TT would be interesting to see.

The car in the pictures do not show any SS markings I see, suggesting to me a repaint.

Here in Carolina ( a few miles from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill) we call it Carolina Blue. Even the fire trucks in Chapel Hill are that color.

I think the ZL1 option on a. 69 camaro was over 4k. Anyone know what an over counter ZL1 engine cost?
