Garage Talk / Harbor Freight floor jack
« on: September 12, 2023, 12:40:56 PM »
I have the Harbor Freight blue aluminum floor jack like in cook-dw,s pictures of his 68 preservation. When pulling the jack with the handle the handle sometimes pulls out. The thumb screw that holds it does not look like anything you could pickup to replace it. Anyone had this problem and how did you fix it? Other than that the jack is a great tool for the price.

Maintenance / Hard brake pedal
« on: November 28, 2022, 03:34:59 AM »
I have two 69 Camaros. One z28 and one SS L78 both power disc brake cars. Both have have the boosters replaced and brakes rebuilt by po. The Z has an almost touchy brake feel while the SS has a hard pedal almost like it would with the engine not running. The vacuum is 14 or so at idle, the booster holds vac but it takes serious pedal pressure to stop. I am thinking booster but would like to hear you guys input. I also have replaced the vac valve on the booster as this caused a similar problem on my GTO.

Maintenance / 69 power brake booster
« on: September 15, 2022, 11:59:33 AM »
My 69 has a repop brake booster by the PO that is failing. I see several online at HC. I want to use a correct booster but see no need for a GM unit for a driver car. Anyone have any recomendations for a unit?

Thinking about maybe selling one of my cars due to my age, time, and space. I don,t really like bidding like eBay ect. Would you be thinking Craigslist,, Hemings ? Maybe TC, not really into Facebook. Thinking of where serious people would look.

Just a heads up, parts seem to be running out. Tried to get some firebird seat covers in black no less, guys saying no materials, no help. Friend looking midyear vette stuff same answer. If you are on a project might want to order ahead if they have your part.

General Discussion / 1st 69 Z28
« on: December 22, 2020, 02:01:47 PM »
Anyone read the recent magazine article about this car serial #3? A production car with pilot parts, 68 parts. Seems odd a car like that would have a past with no information on how it got from a GM photo car to the street.

General Discussion / White 68 Yenko
« on: March 25, 2019, 12:57:30 AM »
The car is in an article in a popular muscle car magazine, May edition. It said to possibly be the first factory 427 delivered and has received a top of line restoration. It seems that pains were taken to locate correct parts and use original parts. But the “427” was made a 496 with 12.5 to 1 pistons and other mods. My question is why? Does anyone know the story behind this car?

Garage Talk / 4 post lift

I am thinking about a lift with the castors. No serious work just like to roll outside for cleaning and or painting the bottom. Also maybe stacking cars.

General Discussion / Black console gauges
« on: December 13, 2018, 03:58:02 PM »
I was reading about a said original car that had black face gauges and said it was because of shortage or employee error. It is a Norwood car so I don,t think that black units would even be in the factory. It said sold new Jan. of 69. Any cars with original black units out there? They did look good with the black interior.

Maintenance / Coolant crystals
« on: November 19, 2018, 08:17:03 PM »
Not my camaro but my 64 vette. It does not get driven much but green crystals form in the coolant when it has been sitting. It is hard when dry and mushy when wet. It seems to form on the aluminum intake and the aluminum expansion tank inside. Over the years it has been flushed and coolant changed. It also seems to corrode the aluminum. Both the intake and tank have been replaced and the radiator is a brass replacement. Any thoughts?
