Loose trim tag and VIN for sale on ebay.

NOR213535  VIN not visible

Seller also has some other Camaro stuff for sale as well.
Care for some old crusty springs for $1200?

That's it. I had those Camaro Corral magazines for years then finally tossed them when I moved about 20 years ago.

I also wonder what would happen if a big money was offered for CRG and they sold. That would be bad. Many people contribute to CRG believing it is an altruistic group dedicated to gathering and analyzing data for the greater good. And for the most part it is, but the reality is it's probably owned by one or more individuals and most of us have no control over it.

NOPE! The Camaro Research Group is owned by no one. Kurt Sonen is the Copyright Manager and Doug DePew owns (or at least supplies) the server space (for free I might add), but no one person owns the Camaro Research Group. In a sense, it's owned by no one and everyone!

And I know of NO plans to sell the site or the name, and I can definitely tell you the data will NEVER be sold or disclosed to ANYONE but other CRG members, and then only if it's required. There are only three or four people that have access to the data and it's because they maintain their particular years. I used to have the 1968 cars, but it was taken over by Steve when I left.

And speaking of leaving, I get numerous emails asking when I'll be coming back and all I can say is that I'm still having personal issues, so it won't be any time soon. However, I DO foresee a time in the (not too distant) future when I'll be returning. If they'll have me!

Ed

Well that's good news. I suppose if it's set up so no one person owns it that would make selling out more difficult.

But some one, or LLC, or something, must own the domain name. Is CRG modeled after any other group?

What ever happened to the United States Camaro Club? I think I may have joined that one around 1990 because I have that sticker.

It's understandable to feel left out when a club you belong to, but have no control over, gets sold out.

Remember when Team Camaro was sold? It sure seems like things changed a bit after that.

I also wonder what would happen if a big money was offered for CRG and they sold. That would be bad. Isn't this old news from a couple years ago? Or are they still selling off the collection?

Kind of an odd collection overall.

No problem.  IMO, they went overboard with the white paint on the Craigslist '67 Z28 cowl tag.

Paul

The original pictures of white highlighted trim tags I have seen look like they where sprayed with a smaller pattern, like from a rattle can. This restored car looks like it was done with a larger spray pattern from a paint gun.

The rear leaf springs also look like they got a liberal coat of gray paint with over spray on the rubber bushings.

Must be an old restoration before a lot of knowledge was out there.

Looks like a potential buyer had an inspection done and the report is posted here:

Too bad this report will not prevent a buyer from overpaying for a clone.

Clem, Please keep your posts civil so that your valuable contributions will not be deleted. I understand there is a lot of pride on both sides of the issue. However, the experts who are sticking by their opinions are core members of this site and personal attacks will get deleted. Just sayin!

One of my favorite posts from the beginning of this whole debacle was Jerry Macniesh saying

Evening Orchid was not available in 1969... End of story.
That of course was just the beginning of the story. Now at Mecum, there will be the car hyped up as a 1 of 1 special paint and an expert written appraisal of the car stating it is just a standard color with a stripe delete, which is certainly not that rare. Should make for interesting TV.

This certainly has been an interesting story on many boards, not just here and Team Camaro, but on several other boards as well. Some brought up an interesting point that there was a light purple color available in 1969. Is it possible that you requested "Evening Orchid" and the paint used was actually called "Sunset Silver", which is what that light purple color was called in 1969?

The current Mecum pictures make the car look more purple than the other pictures i have seen of the car and of other Evening Orchid Impalas I have seen in person. Anyone else notice that?

Previous auction pictures:

I see they also omitted the letter from the original purchaser where he told of how his wife was very disappointed when she saw the car and hated the Evening Orchid color. She wanted more like Plum Crazy purple. I have to agree with the wife. Not the best color for this car.

Imagine the estimated value of a Plum Crazy special order!

All very nice cars. I remember seeing the COPO debut at the Camaro Nationals in 2008.
There was something about the trim tag I wanted to ask the experts about, as I was pretty new at analyzing them at the time. Anyone have a picture of that COPO trim tag?

Here's a picture I just took with my phone. I have a better one pre-restoration with the paint removed, but I need to locate it.

Thanks Steve. I have no questions about that tag.

The one I was thinking of must have been a different tag I looked at that day (it was a long time ago!).

The size of the hex is different. You have the big hex. Don't remember which is which. It may be in the archives.

I just noticed that the site warns you before replying to old topics. Very helpful to newbies, too bad TC doesn't have that. Good job guys!

Whats your opinion on the paperwork? Is it all legit? I cant imagine faking a base V8 210 HP PG car.

How common is it to have these 4 different documents all for the same car?
