Restoration / Re: black on tailpan on ss cars

The tailpanels were not full gloss (I don't think anyone argues that), but the blue one was the glossiest tailpanel I've ever seen. Yes, built in the summer.

LOL wonder how many of us looked at that and both commented and took pictures. Know I did!

Cannot remember name but there is a prime builder the ncrs guys use. Used to be around $800 for a set.

I was always surprised that pin would be the same phosphate as the base & cup. Mainly because there's some thickness to the plating and it's not a plating that conducive to threads.
Find me a part # for the pin and I may be able to find out more....
Legends judging as stated Lloyd accepts both and was aware of that but never really researched it. Kurt May have same ability but ncrs friend of mine has old gm book that gives finishes by part # so maybe with part number we can define it better. Agree it makes sense! I will try to check Skips 69 closely.

Well you can start with many but heck start with me as I with the help of a couple special friends restored our 68z to a great level and have tried to share the info and have answered many emails and PMís along with a build thread that has accumulated over a half million hits. Other words, help as others have helped me and I work on my cars. At car events more times than not no one has an idea of who is loaded or in some particular dollar category and luckily most of us do not care. What we care about is the hobby and it contains people from all walks of life that share a common interest. A real shame youíve never had that opportunity to experience but hopefully you will.

Super thanks for the many compliments concerning the Nova and it was a pleasure meeting so many members this year. We need to have some happy hour get together next year! Yep, great bunch for sure and glad for the opportunity. And Warrenís car is just insane and thanks Warren for our conversations! So much more to learn. LOL
Thanks again....

Lloyd, stay away from Morton's.  They don't like you and your scruffy troublemaker friends over there.
Oh, I didnít hear about that Jon. Youíll have to fill me in at mcacn.

I'll be in Rosemont Thursday afternoon. This will be my first visit to MCACN. Looking forward to the show & meeting people. Not looking forward to the weather....Joe
Joe, what car are u bringing? We will arrive Thursday around noon per time slot. Maybe we could have a time to meet on Saturday for at least a hello. Many of you know Skipís orange 69Z survivor and we could meet at his car at 12 noon. Both his car and ours are to be in a class of 69 survivors. Our Nova will be the green L78 with original Ammon R Smith front plate and PA 69 rear tag.

Sorry for delay Lloyd but would guess matte would be my first choice.

Lots of detail pics of survivor cars here in the "original cars and details" which can assist with engine compartment. Also searches can help as topic has been discussed many times over the years but probably search for a specific area or part.

Looks good Lloyd but how much shine does it produce. Several years ago I had experimented with good old machinist Dykem Bluing and that seemed to work well with very little work. Easy touch-up if needed also.

Iíve not seen a 68survivor in gray and white. Many examples can be found both here and team Camaro.

Originality / Re: 1968 Assembly line fenders
« on: August 22, 2019, 07:44:56 PM »
Is there anything specific to assembly line fenders that would designate them compared to over the counter. Car is an 04D car.
Later over the counter fenders seemed to have a more rounded vs.. crisp line from the what has been contributed to die wear. Overall, not an issue IMO.
