General Discussion / Re: GAA Classic Auction Car
« on: July 22, 2022, 05:01:15 PM »
Nice looking car. No pics of stampings. Tag looks okay. Looks like its had an extensive restoration. I would want to see all the driveline and component stampings before I bid on it.
Has a chinese repop brake booster. Master isnt right either. Lots of resto catalog parts used.
Could turn out to be a decent car but who knows unless you inspect it in person.

Fan and pulley look to be correct.

General Discussion / Re: Info for everybody,,,1969 Z28 for sale ?

Engine V1203DZ is a bit early for this car. VIN is not a factory stamping. In the one pic of the engine, it shows the pad in bare metal without heads on it from a distance. To me, it looks like someone tried to replicate broach marks by sanding the pad and you can see the sand marks going back around the cylinder. Rear-end stamping BT0214G2 is after the car was built so its not original. RS was added and confirmed by original pic of the car without RS. Starting to look like it was a real Z but was pieced together with parts to get it back together again.

Engine stamping looked good. That was a great buy

I agree with the wheels comment above. Lots of questions arise from that cowl tag/VIN situation.

All those driveline stampings look legit. I agree it looks like a crack, would like to see the paint removed off the pad.

My first thought was ME changed to MO due to non VIN stamped pad too.

In that Ebay ad I see the casting is 3892657 and a way better pic of the stamping.

Picture isnt the best. I would have to defer to Kurt on this one. The earliest 67 z stampings I have are March 67. The MO stampings I have for Feb are from 1968 so they are of no help.
Would be interested in seeing a casting date and clock casting number. The MO when blown up look kind of odd to me.
