Decoding/Numbers / Re: Wheel decoding?
« on: March 15, 2007, 03:31:14 AM »
Those are wheels from 1989. GM was still selling YJ coded wheels into the reall early 90's. I know, I bought a set in 89.

that would be K 1 89  for 1989.

Yep, that 11,000 mile car is probably not a good example.

I figured it wasnt real as I know of only one good date for these. Thanks for confirming what I thought.
Auction says "GUARANTEED ORIGINAL STAMP". I guess somebody is going to pay over $1000 for a restamp. :o

Thats good to hear. I guess I can sell my NOS actuators and buy those from Ricks. Are they the same physical size and style actuator? Basically just replace my actuators?

Thanks again

General Discussion / Re: Differences in CE and DZ block
« on: March 06, 2007, 02:47:35 PM »
Yes, thanks, I know the diff about the blocks for 69 and 68.  The DZ is a 388 and the CE is 010.  I was wondering why there is a boss on the DZ where the dist. goes in the block and there isn't one on the 010.

Do you have a picture of that 388 block with the DZ stamping?
I still dont know if I have ever seen an original 388 DZ block. Almost all 388 blocks I have seen came out of Tonawanda engine. I thought Flint engine bulit all the 302 engines in 69.

upper is  3956662 JR
Lower is 3942561 SM

Anything you can help with would be greatly appreciated

Are those numbers exclusive to the z/28? I think those are also all small block for 69. My build sheet for my 69 has JR and SM in the boxes for heater hoses.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Hidden VIN
« on: March 06, 2007, 02:34:11 PM »
I blasted my whole body down to the original metal and what you are talking about being stamped are the date codes for sheetmetal parts. Alot of parts are stamped with a letter followed by a 2 digit number. The letter is the plant and the numbers are the week. I had K44 stamped all over my car.
I also do not have my VIN stamped under the blower motor hole as some cars evidently did not get stamped there. The only places I have seen hidden VIN's are on top of the pass side cowl and under the blower motor hole. Thsi was on my 69 Van Nuys 11B car.

Jerry

Will this work for 69's also? I have about 5 sets of NOS actuators and there is always some problem whether it is the repo hoses crack on the ends or something binding. It drives me crazy. Has anyone found hoses that dont crack?? I bought the RS hose kit from Ricks.

Thanks
Mike

If you want them fixed right send them to Gary at The Horn Works.

I have sent him 3 sets and he does phenomenal work and is a great guy to deal with.
The horns are real loud now.

There is a seller on ebay claiming he has had Jerry M. inspect this car and it has a DZ engine. Says it's the only X11 z/28 made?

Sorry, but I am not buying it.
