Restoration / Re: 1969 Z/28 Exhaust manifolds
« on: June 01, 2007, 04:41:20 AM »
I bought a pair of repop big block exhaust manifolds from this seller. They fit real nice and have the real appearance of the originals. I have not bought or used the small block ones. The ones I bought we a perfect fit and the casting numbers looked just like factory on the car.

Here is the orig drive shaft in a 70 Chevelle with Turbo 400 and 396/350hp

I think there are different markings for different transmissions. I dont think a manual car has the same as an auto car.

My 67 z/28 has an M21 and 4.88 factory rear and here is the driveshaft paint:

July 16 wheels would be very late and possible on production I guess. They still dont have the value of the earlier wheels from what I have seen.
Month and day dated DF wheels in 68 are worth about $250 ea and 69 service replacement about $150. The 67 and early 68 wheels are the hardest to find with just the inverted DF stamping. These are the big buck wheels that go for $600 and up each.

If you have a Tonawanda built 327, then you can also use the 3927170 pump or the 692 pump. The 7170 pump will most likely be the cheaper and easier to find.

Jason -

What's the build date on your car?  I have a friend who has a complete set of DF rally wheels all with the same date.  All four wheels are stamped K18  7  16  DF .  The problem is he knows they're rare and wants big bucks for them.  He also has a complete set of XG rally wheels (stamped K18  5  8  XG and a complete set of DG rally wheels (no date stamp) if anybody is looking.

Paul

The later 68 DF's dont bring as much money as their earlier counterparts, especially the 67 or real early 68 wheels with the inverted DF only by the valve stem hole.  I think that there is a big misconception out there that any DF wheel is worth Big bucks.
If the dates are July 16 68, they may not have even went on a production 68 z/28 and may be a service replacement wheel. That would lower the value, IMO

My 67 z/28 still has it's original driveshaft and I havent found anything but stripes on it. One orange stripe and one white stripe.

I bought the SEM plastic paint because it is made for that. They also have a plastic prep and sand free product in cans that worked on mine. I think it is all in how you prep them, plus the paint you use.

It has been a project in the works for maybe 5 years or so on camaros.net and chevelles.com with dealer codes still getting added.

I believe they are more for helping keep your engine cool by directing air into the radiator.
I would put them back on if it was my car.

The engine info you gave indicates it is out of a Fullsize Chevrolet. It is not the original engine to the camaro.
