General Discussion / Re: Assessing value of this car.
« on: December 26, 2023, 04:48:32 PM »
Im not sure you could get the seller to budge that much off the $65K asking price. It certainly is still a real Z. I agree on the $50K value the way it sits.
I dont even get that arguement at all, that its no longer a real Z because its missing the original engine. Just any other Camaro? I say nope.
It certainly affects the value to me, but its still a Z28.
So whats a 69 Camaro Pace Car without the original engine? No longer a Pace Car??

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 Camaro L48 Flint or Tonawanda or both?

I would say that is a good match for that build. Both Flint and Tonawanda blocks were used at Van Nuys

I dont mind the partial VIN stamping, but the rest of it does not add up to original DZ early Sept 68 stampings. Only guys with numerous stampings of this time period would know what Im talking about.

asm69, does your car have the short spoiler?

Also take a pic from the underside of the lid to see if there are holes where the emblem was under the spoiler.,

I also see you say it calls out D80 on the build sheet?? Would this be the Chassis Broadcast Sheet?

For $101,000 I would want alot of things corrected on that car. Master cyl and booster are after market pieces. Rear springs. If those are wrong what about the rest of the small components that add up like distributor, carb, radiator, generator, starter, water pump, fan, cowl seal is upside down, radiator cap, goofy radio knobs, drilled holes in the dash to permanently mount gauges, etc etc

Heartbeat links says the engine is stamped V0308MO, this engine is V0302MO . maybe a typo?

Not all Camaros got the partial VIN stamped by the blower motor area. My car did not have it. Van Nuys 11B

General Discussion / Re: Orange stripe on RS vacuum hose
« on: June 26, 2023, 02:52:46 PM »
Paint looks good. I saved my original hoses. I will have to dig them out and see what the striping looks like. I have a VanNuys car 11B.

The 90's repop hoses were not high quality rubber. They would split at every connector. I still have them on my car. Not sure how the new hose kits are

That cowl tag is one of the newer reproduction cowl tags and not original to the car.

I think its azure turquoise as it only came with a black stripe unless you had white vinyl top. (I believe)

General Discussion / Re: Argent Silver/ Krylon dull Aluminum
« on: April 11, 2023, 08:39:29 PM »
For my 69Z ralleys, I bought Krylon 1403 online about a year or so ago and it was hard to find then. I was really happy with the results. One thing I noticed it that the wheel codes around the valve stem were very readable. Most paints go on so thick it hides the codes, but not this paint.

I would definitely use it again and wait for it if I had to.
