Decoding/Numbers / P/S pump
« on: February 02, 2007, 10:55:11 PM »
I found the pulley numbers on this site.

5698119 is the number on the pump itself-no numbers on reservior.

21 198 ND  with a M over a W in a circle

There is also a a symbol like a bar with 1 20  in it.

What would be the date code and what does a 5698119 pump fit?
Thanks

Frank

Originality / Valve cover mark

I hate to be a pain-but the stuff  I am finding as I am restoring and documenting this car may help all of us and add to the database.

The right valve cover had a- 14 -paint mark on the rear side which would not be visable in the car.

What do you think that is for?

Originality / 68 firewall paint marks

What were some common paint marks on a L30/M35 LA car?
My firewall  appears to have had a AA on it???
It is very faded and hard to see except in right light and angle.
Thanks

Originality / Re: Power steer pump cap
« on: January 30, 2007, 01:33:10 AM »
I just checked the P/S cap on my 02C built '68 Z/28. Here's what I have:
- metal cap (appears to have been originally painted black - most of this black paint is worn off).
- the words "USE AUTOMATIC TRANS FLUID TYPE A - CHECK OIL HOT".
- short (44 mm) black plastic tube (stick).
- "FULL" line on tube (stick) is 20 mm from the bottom of tube (stick).
- cap is vented on the top of the cap through the tube (stick).
- cap is a little loose on the P/S pump housing when it reaches the stops. OK it you back it off very slightly. worn gasket?
- I'm not 100% positive this is the original cap.
Hope this info helps.

Paul
That is the same cap on my 11C 68 LA car which I also know is correct and original.
Every 69 in my shop now (3) have a black plastic cap-2 sb -11c and 09a one bb 07b.
My 69 El Camino sb 07c  has a plastic cap also.
I think we have a winner-Black plastic.

Hi Rich,
I have the O G on the tank-but the tag on the lower part of the core is what I am questioning.- 2003A 688
It doesn't look like a rad shop tag but I do not know what it is?
Thanks

Just a question on the unused code. Does your Camaro have the fiber optic or the light monitoring system (U46) on the fenders?

No it does not any never did have the hole in the OE fenders on car now.
Start a post on it to see who knows

Hi Ed,

Yes I have P/S and A/C  and fold down seat.
The car did have a radio but was updated with a custom autosound unit  so i will find a replacement for it.
Do not know on the mats or edge guards but based on the dealer installed door guards I removed(that were rivited on like they did in that era) it probably was the edge guards

thanks for the reasearch-I hope i can help others here also.

This place is great!
