Dave -

If you decide to check the state of your engine with a cylinder leakage test each cylinder to be tested must have the piston at TDC (top dead center) on the compression stroke, so that both valves are closed.  If the piston is not in this position you will get a reading of 100% leakage!  Have fun.   Smiley

dab67 -

You can find that information in your chassis service manual in the specifications section.  Compression specifications are found in the tune up chart specs.  The compression spec in my 1968 chassis service manual for a 350 is 160 psi at cranking speed, throttle wide open with a maximum variation of 20 lbs. between cylinders.

Hi All -

I never heard back from this guy like he promised.  I've been calling him for weeks and leaving messages, but he never replied.  Well, I just called him again and he picked up the phone this time.  He told me the magnufluxing checked out fine, but the shop that performed the inspection said one of the cylinders had been sleeved.  He sold everything for $2800.00!  Regardless of the sleeved cylinder, I believe someone got a good deal if the engine was as complete (alternator, distributor, intake, etc.) as he claims.  I just thought you guys would like to know.   Smiley

Thanks for your Chevy fast response!  I just checked and I don't see anything sticking out from the top of the tank  Sad.  If it is there, it will remain there for now as I have no time to drop the tank.  Thanks again.

Hi Charley -

Do you know if this is the case with '68 Van Nuys Camaros too?  My '68 has been in storage since 1981, so if this procedure occurred in the 1968 model year also there's a good chance it might still be there!   Roll Eyes

Jerry Macneish would be the one to answer your questions.  He maintains The Official 1967 Camaro Z/28 Registry.  Here's a link to it:

http://www.z28camaro.com/registry.html

According to Jerry's book, The Definitive 1967-1968 Camaro Z/28 Fact Book (3rd edition), as of 1-1-2002, 170 1967 Z/28s have been located, documented, and accounted for.  Although I'm sure it's more now (5+ years later).  As far as price goes, I defer to Jerry again.  I do know one just sold on Ebay without it's original drivetrain for $60,000.00 on a "Buy it Now" auction.  Here it is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180088592935&rd=1&rd=1

Price is always relative to condition.   Wink

P.S.  Congratulations Zedder!

Jerry -

Here's the website for ZL-1 car #40.  You might want to email him/her and let them know you have found their original engine and paperwork.  I'm sure they would be interested in it based on the details they provide in their website.
