4426  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Correct Carb 69 396 325hp on: May 05, 2007, 05:24:44 PM
l have a 69 ss 396 325 hp that came with a quadrajet but the original carb is not with it. Does anyone know the correct carb number and a date? My guess is 7029200 but not sure of the date. The engine build date is T0416JG. Thank you Earl

Earl -

Good guess!  7029200 is the correct carburetor for the '69 Camaro 396-325 hp (L35) engine with the TH400 transmission.  The carburetor was installed at the car assembly plant, so it should be dated from about ten days to a month or two prior to the car's final assembly date.

Wow, it even has T-T on the trim plate, which decodes to T-Top.   Grin   Grin   Grin

I emailed him to find out the VIN, checking for my engine. His VIN could not be 406XXX, needs to be 6XXXXX.

Gary -

I agree with you and that's why I stated the seller thinks the vin is what's posted.  I called him and directed him to the partial vin location over the phone.  He said it was "tough to read" and this is his best guess with the naked eye.  It will be interesting to see what vin he comes up with in response to your email.  Please let us know.

So far, 3 cases in a row, the "R-I" has appeared on only the 660 cases.   Maybe it stands for Race-Inspired!   Cheesy

I took pictures if anyone wishes to see.

Flowjoe -

I'd love to see your photos if you could post or email them.  Thanks in advance.
