4426  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Booster Dates on: April 16, 2007, 07:38:50 PM
I must assume booster date codes were Julian dates?  What is a "108" date code on a "9204", the 108th day of 69 or 4/18/1969?
My car is a 05A Norwood car.

Thanks,

Dave

You are correct!   Smiley

Mike -

I'm curious, how much did it cost?

You can still get a picture of the transmission code with the transmission in the car.  The partial vin is a little tricky on Los Angeles cars because the vin is stamped on top of the transmission.  I've photographed my partial vin with the aid of a mirror, a droplight, and a steady hand; so it's not impossible.

I was looking at bidding on this car but noticed this discussion. What makes this fake?

Did you read the text and examine the photo from reply #2 above?  That's what makes it fake.  There are many other clues if you look carefully at the photos in the listing.  For example, look at the interior trim code compared to what's in the car.   Roll Eyes

4 speed trans p8b14c   #18L336738

p = Muncie 4-speed transmission
8 = 1968
b = February
14 = Day of the month (Valentine's Day  Kiss)
c = M22.  This is the part that doesn't fit because this suffix code (c) was not used until October 1968 and this transmission was assembled on February 14, 1968!?   Huh   Someone might have restamped these numbers!?

18L336738 is the partial vin which the factory stamped on during assembly of the car.  How many times is this partial vin stamped on this transmission?

Start with this link:

You should also buy Jerry MacNeish's book, "302  The Definitive 1967-1968 Camaro Z/28 Fact Book"  You can buy it here:

And if you have any additional questions, just ask.
