4146  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: I want to build a rotissere for my car on: October 17, 2007, 11:25:48 AM
I was thinking of using two engine stands and securing them together with a bar at the bottom. Would this work?

I don't see why not, that is what the rotisseries from Auto Twirler look like:  http://www.autotwirler.com/store/index.php?main_page=index

4151  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Steering box dates on: October 16, 2007, 09:40:57 PM
Mine actually has a cast of 262 as far as I can see.

262 = September 19, 1967 on your '68 02E  car.

4152  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Optional clock on 1969 Camaro? on: October 16, 2007, 05:41:40 PM
I see for the 1968 Camaro there was a clock option on the console as well as a clock option on a non-console car that was mounted directly on the hump under the ashtray.

Were would I look on a manuel steering box to find dates?

firez -

For your build date, it should be cast right on top (looking straight down from the master cylinder) of the steering gear housing just below the casting number (5679142).  It will be a Julian date like 363 (December 29, 1967).  Please let me know what you find...    Smiley

4154  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Which Wheel? on: October 16, 2007, 11:43:29 AM
Thanks Paul...  Grin

So if a standard sports coupe was ordered with the J50/J52 option, it would have most likely come with a 14x6, XF and the offset would have been +.50" offset.  Right?  Huh

I'm trying to figure something out from a picture, so I'm sort of backing into some of the original options.  The picture shows a steel wheel.

Correct.    Smiley

A nightshot of one of the coolest options for the 68.

I like it!!    Grin    And 6K redline too!    Grin
