Hi Ed -

   Beautiful photo! I'm curious, why is the fuel warning sender taped to the bottom of the gauge cluster housing instead of being mounted in the hole between the fuel and oil pressure gauges?  Mine is mounted in the hole. Just curious, that's all.

I just checked the P/S cap on my 02C built '68 Z/28. Here's what I have:
- metal cap (appears to have been originally painted black - most of this black paint is worn off).
- the words "USE AUTOMATIC TRANS FLUID TYPE A - CHECK OIL HOT".
- short (44 mm) black plastic tube (stick).
- "FULL" line on tube (stick) is 20 mm from the bottom of tube (stick).
- cap is vented on the top of the cap through the tube (stick).
- cap is a little loose on the P/S pump housing when it reaches the stops. OK it you back it off very slightly. worn gasket?
- I'm not 100% positive this is the original cap.

Just picked up an original '68 Z28 distributor today from a local guy!  1111467, date is 8A3.  Will restore it to sell.  Also got the matching carb, 812 and 610 intake manifold.

I thought I would alert anyone who might be looking for a nice original (GM) wood grain ashtray that there is one listed on eBay at this time at the above link. Check this out! Last weekend I called the previous owner of my '68 Z/28 to ask him about the wood grain ashtray in my car for another post on this forum. I also asked him about the distributor and water pump. He told me he has never had a distributor problem in any car that he has owned, but that he believes he has change the water pump in about every car he has owned. He also told me he thought he might have the "old part" out in the garage. I begged him to check and call me if he found it. I figured I wouldn't hear from him, so I marked my calendar to follow up with him in about two months. Well I was wrong, he called me last night I told me he found the water pump! I asked him how he knew it was from the Z/28. He told me because it was in a box he had marked "68 Camaro"  . I headed over to his house first thing this morning to picked it up. I smiled   when I saw the orfice for the bybass hose. Casting number on it is 3859326 with a date code of K297! Does anybody have a recommendation on where I can get this restored/rebuilt? Thanks.

   I just emailed you that file you requested. What do you think is the approximate build date of this vehicle based on the info in the CRG database? Also, what are my chances of finding this vehicle, assuming she's still around, based on your experience? Thanks in advance.

Hi Kurt -

   Thanks for checking the database. I've tried several times to attach photos, but have been unsuccessful. The problem appears to be that there is a maximum file size of 128 KB per photo. The smallest photo file size I have is 1.48 MB. Do you have any idea how I can get around this?

   Why not just go to your local police department and be honest. Tell them you are interested in buying this vehicle, but you think the car might be stolen. It is then in their best interest, not to mention their job, to check it out. And if it turns out to be stolen, you will be a hero for finding someone's baby! Good luck.

   Don't do it! Keep it stock. I've seen too many people butcher beautiful and original cars (my brother included) trying to obtain some "look". Keep it factory and you will keep it valuable. Just my two cents worth. Good luck to you.

   You might want to start your search by sending an email to "KurtS" on this forum and ask him to check if your old car's vin is in the CRG database. If it is, he might have the current owner's contact information. And if he does, those documents and original parts are worth a fortune to the current owner. Of course if it were me, I'd try to buy her back! This all assumes the vehicle is still in existence. Good luck finding her!

Hi Everybody -

   I just wanted to say that I'm not at all interested in selling my 1111266 distributor. I have received several very generous offers by email, but thanks to the information provided by Jerry MacNeish and Randy's (aka dutch) almost identical example this is the factory original distributor for my Z/28. That said, I would be crazy to sell it. Good luck to all of you who are looking for one and thanks again for the offers.
