Hey Guys -

Does anybody need a vintage correct 327 cid/210 hp engine for their '67 Camaro restoration?  There's one for sale on craigslist in my neck of the woods.  The seller states the engine pad is stamped V02I5ME with a block casting date of A 5 7.  He will be calling me back with the block casting number when he gets home from work.  Here's the ad...

Decoding/Numbers / Is this vin in the CRG database?
« on: February 16, 2007, 07:35:54 AM »
Hi All -

The vin is 124378L335653.  It is presumed to be a 1968 Z/28 with an engine assemble date of V0323MO!   :o  This information was posted in a listing on craigslist in my neck of the woods.  The listing is for a complete '68 302 engine including a 1111467 distributor*.  I first saw the listing a couple of days ago, but between field trips, Valentine's Day parties, and coaching duties at my children's school I haven't been able to post the info until now.  I'm hoping if the vin is in the database we can locate the owner and put this power plant back where it belongs.  Thanks in advance.

*The ad states the date code on the distributor is 8E3, but I'm wondering if it's 8B3?

Hi Everyone -

Is the vin 124378N391571 in the CRG database? Does anybody have or know of this vehicle? I have the original engine to this vehicle and would like to reunite it with it's chassis. Thanks in advance.

Hello Everybody -

I'm a newbie and have a question regarding my 1968 Rally Sport Z/28. I recently towed the car from my parents home, where it has been stored since 1981, to mine as they are about to do some major remodeling. I decided to check the "numbers".  Two parts seem suspicious: the distributor and the water pump. The distributor is stamped 1111266 with a date code of 7A25 and the water pump is cast with the number 3838175 with a date code of D 13 7. According to the book "Chevrolet by the Numbers 1965-69" this distributor was only used in the 1967 model year and the water pump number is not even listed. My car has a build date of 02C from Los Angeles (born and been in California to date). So, the question is do I need to start looking for the correct parts or is it possible these are the factory parts? I've heard that sometimes GM would use parts they had a surplus of on the assembly line (especially in Los Angeles where they did not build as many Z/28s), or are these parts too old? Thanks in advance!
