Just checking to see if anything has surfaced. At the body shop now getting painted. Talked to the guy that used to own your car a few weeks ago and he was talking about when he bought it. I have his number if you would like to talk to him. Catch up to ya later.

OK here's what you do----
1- Go to SCDMVonline.com
2-on the left side of the homepage click on forms and manuals
3-next to last is the TR-3 form

Print that form fill it out as a repair shop and send them $26 and you will have your info in 72hrs good luck

Decoding/Numbers / cam part numbers help???
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:01:47 PM »
About 5-6 years ago I bought what was supposed to be a 30-30 Factory NOS cam. Paid $$$ for it and to be honest never really looked at, just had the shortblock rebuilt. My buddy that built the engine pulled it out of the tube and installed it. I finally got around to putting the engine in the car and it ran about 100 miles and took several lobes off. I now believe I've been screwed I set the lash at .028 so it should have been fine. The numbers off the back of the cam are as follows:

11-25-02             pretty safe bet this is the manufacture date
    955 ???
0288           both these are on the cam itself
     D3

at this point My guess is it's actually a 288 hydraulic cam that someone stuck in the GM cardboard sleeve???/ any thoughts???

General Discussion / sold my 68Z back to the original owner

I guess I got "burned out" on fooling with the car after all these years. I had several people wanting the car but in the end I sold it several thousand cheaper to the man(and friend) that bought it brand new. It is home at last in Elgin SC.

I would ask the "dealer" where the speedo cable comes through the firewall. Either under the booster or under the other location.  Thanks

I actually bought a set-up on E-pay just to see how many idiots I can get to tell me that only CA cars had them at the cruise night. The one I bought didn't have a deep groove on it and if I can buy a repop reasonable I will.

I think I'll go to Wal-Mart and buy a "whisper 2000" so I can hear everything they say from the comfort of my lawn chair ;D

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Late March D80?

If you bought that from a dealer/restoration shop I would pursue a refund. They represented the car as a Z28 so they are liable for the accuracy of the car. And It's a pretty safe bet that they changed the tag to increase the value of the car.

This car is a 04c X77 71 71 car and there are several things that throw up a red flag. Just curious if anyone else knew of the car.

This car was at our local cruise night Friday. Very nice car looked like a fresh restoration. Sporting a "real Z" front tag so naturally I had to look very close. There were several things that stood out. Just curious if anyone had any notes or memories. Thanks

well I received the following reply:

Well Ken, are you sure your name isn't Ray... all I can say is you are blind and ignorant. This car is not a fake and if you think it is why don't you make some statements about exactly what you think is fake and then bring your experts, we will bring ours and see who is right. If you want to put your money where your rediculous mouth is we will be more than happy to take any bet. Come on DUDE. There is absolutely NOTHING fake about this car. You could not be more wrong. Where do people like you come from... you read some jackals nonsense in a chatroom and take it for gospel. GET A CLUE before you make rediculous statements like you just made. If you are even REAL call me any time at 949-310-6262 and tell me just what exactly you are referring to. You won't because you have no clue or you are just a fake... hiding behind your anonymous eBay name.

and this is my reply:

Dear smithird,

well my name is not Ray??? My name is as stated Kenneth Shupe and I'll make you a deal you cannot refuse if your're so sure of your car. I will pay for Jerry Macneish to come and certify your car at no charge I'll even pay for his airfare. If it's not real then hey problem solved if it is I'm out my money and I'll post a full apology anywhere you like. Time to "cowboy up" just let meknow and I'll make a few phone calls and make an appointment for the inspection.
yours truly Kenneth Shupe

I seldom comment on these type auctions but felt compelled to send him a quick note. This type scenario is getting very common.
