There's no reason to believe the POP is a fake. If you're going to fake one, you'd get the date right. If there is something wrong my bet is it's at the engine/tranny stamp. Any pics of those?

the thought of having a perfectly restored nut and bolt car is to me just a thought. I want a driver- a nice one but not perfect - chips/dings be damned! I'm not going to live forever, My son can do with it what he wants when I'm gone
Well, I'm just about finished turning the nut and bolt restored car into a 'day 2'' Very happy with the result. Edelbrock, Holly, Accel, Dynomax. Stock wheels for now. gf

I have successfully done numerous plastic repairs. Fiberglass patch will not work and make a mess. Polyethylene repairs successfully with heating donor patches. ABS and some mixed composite plastics repair extremely well with plumbing cement. There are PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and ABS cements that will literally cold weld parts together. I agree you should do your research and try a small area to assess your results... but if you get the right material and cements together you will amaze yourself... find some donor material and try it on an edge you can cut off if not successful. Where appropriate you can overlap material to reinforce it adjacent to the missing/damaged bolt holes. Do not be afraid to ask a body shop for advice as this part is certainly quite rare.

Handling and stock first gens can't be used in the same sentence. The parts available back then were all about 'straight line' racing and emulating Grumpy.
It's only in recent decades that owners suddenly wanted cars to 'handle' and parts to suit (coil over, tubular A arms,drop spindles, disc brake packages, SFC, poly bushings etc) became available due to demand. Sure you could set it up to run an oval, but wouldn't try any hairpins. That was for the Vette boys.

Hey there... putting away a few parts and just wanted to be sure before I clean them up and stored them:
Was the carburetor and distributor on the engine when it was painted orange? L48 1969 or just the distributor?
The lift hooks were on, the dipstick was not, the water outlet was on, the exhaust manifolds were on, water pump and no pulley's? How about the fuel pump?
thanks guys.... I read the engine assy. process and saw pics from the 67 line but wasn't too sure if anything had changed.
