General Discussion / Re: 124379N561757 looking for info

The VIN doesn't show up in the Department of Justice's National Motor Vehicle Title Information System, but probably means that it is not currently, nor has it been registered in the recent past.

What information are you looking for?  Are you looking to find the car??

Sounds good!

There is a great pizza joint just across I81 from the Microtel.  It's called Als of Hampden ... pizza and beer, what could be better after a day at Carlisle!

I would recommend staying up off of Exit 61, Wertzville Road off of I-81.  This is about 15 miles north of the fairgrounds, but it's a nice easy drive down Rt 944W to Rt 34S right to the fairgrounds, no traffic.  There are two hotels off of this exit that have just been built in the last year.  One is a Microtel, the other I can't remember the name of it.

Kurt is correct, Don Yenko bought the rights and cast his own ZL1 engines with YENKNO embossed on them.  I remember a few running around the Canonsburg area as late as the late 1990s.

I suggest that you run that VIN through the Department of Justice National Motor Vehicle Title Information system and then submit a request for vehicle title history for whatever state the vehicle shows up in.  This will give you the current owners name/address, but beware, there are restrictions on how/if you can contact the owner with the information you receive from the DMV.  Read the form carefully.

You should have no problem finding the owner this way.  Please let us know what you find out.

Please post some pictures, particuarly of the underhood area, and the suspension, both front and rear. ... If the car is all original, it will be invaluable to those of us trying to restore one that has been tampered with previously.  What engine/transmission are in this one?

I hate to tell you this, but you just bought yourself a mess!

If there is not a VIN plate visable on the left (drivers side) dash and you did not get a title, you have a problem.

First off, I would call the person who sold you the car and demand the purchase price back along with any incidential charges such as transporation, etc.  You should also report this to the state highway patrol and have them come out and look at the hidden VINs on the car to see if the car has been reported stolen or if it was ever salvaged.

Just buying a title won't do you much good as you still don't know whether or not you actually own the car you think you own.  It's a very real proposition that the car you have is stolen, salvaged or something else.

Not a pretty picture any way you look at it.

This is also called the road draft tube and yes it was replaced for the 1968 model year by the more conventional PCV system.
