General Discussion / Re: 67 REAR ANTENNA OPTION
« on: November 15, 2006, 08:56:35 PM »
I have a 67 with a rear spoiler and rear antenna and the spoiler does not hit the ant. when the trunk is opened. I also owned a 67 in 1967. Although I did not have a spoiler, I did have the rear antenna. They both angled away (like + camber) from the body. This angle is determined by the fitting that attached to the quarter panel. I have seen a template in some reference literature that shows where the rear antenna should go.... Dan

My unit does have steel plates between the side gears and springs. However, I believe it to be an original unit. How can I be sure?

According to my reference material, the series 3 carrier accomodates a 3.08 to 3.73 R&P. Series 2 accomodates 2.73:1 and down. Series 4 accomodates 3.90:1 and up. I have an EDB30140 pn, but there is no manufacturer casting logo. After the pn there is a "PM w/ a circle around it" cast in (raised) followed by the number "1". Could it be a corporate (ie GM produced)?

What is the correct series 3 casting number for a 67 - 12 bolt? I understand they can be either a Dana or Eaton unit. References have shown number 30140PM1 for a series 3, 3.08 to 3.73:1. I have located a unit with EDB30140 numbers. Which is correct? Thanks

Restoration / Re: Original style exhaust system for 67ssrs?
« on: October 15, 2006, 10:43:37 PM »
I had a 67 SS/RS in 67. The correct system would have had 2 seperate runs (true dual) from the exh. man through to the transverse muffler. However, there were 2 resonators in the system just before the pipes went over the rear the axle, on either side of the driveshaft. I believe Ground Up Restorations sells such a system, with and w/o resonators. I'm restoring my 67 and plan on going with the resonators. Good Luck!

Originality / Re: Correct shifter
« on: September 19, 2006, 12:30:43 AM »
I agree from experience with all the above re: originality and function of the Muncie shifter. I had a 1967 RS/SS in 1967 when I entered college (GMI). Those were the late 60's and 70's and drag racing on the streets and hard shifting was the order of the day. The only problem I had with my Muncie was that it would sometimes hang up between 2nd and 3rd. Then you couldn't shift at all! Many times I was under the car after two many drinks, late at night, with a hot date trying to free the linkage up. However, today I have an identical car (not the same one) that I had in 67. Although it has a Hurst in it, I will be putting a Muncie in to make it original. Good luck with yours! Dan

Don't know about the pump #'s but would like to know what size fuel line should run to the carb? 5/16 or 3/8's? dans67camaro

bobvickers..... What size fuel line do you have feeding your carb from the fuel pump? I also have a 67 RS/SS350, exactly like the one I had when I was 18 (in 1967)! But that detail I don't remember. dans67camaro

According to my reference book, the 3889694 is a 68 flywheel. The 3998281 shows as a 67 flywheel, but the number for 67 should be lower than the number for 68 I think!

Decoding/Numbers / 1967 350 Oil Filter
« on: September 05, 2006, 02:44:11 PM »
Does anyone know if the correct oil filter for a 67 Camaro 350 is a bolt on cannister with the paper PF-141 inside? I believe Chevy went to a spin o filter in late 67 and for 68 on!

I have a 67 and I'm rebuilding the stock, matching numbers engine. Does anyone know the correct bellhousing, starter and clutch part numbers/size? I believe them to be 3899621 bell housing, 3791021 flywheel, 1108338 starter and a 11" clutch. Just want to be sure, cause I have a 3858403 bell housing and it doesn't fit the 8338 starter!
