Restoration / Re: 69 camaro BB 4 speed shifter mount
« on: May 05, 2009, 12:56:33 PM »
The BB mount plate locates the shifter 1/2 inch to the dr side and 3/8 inch to the rear compared to the SB mt plate. The OEM mt plates both have a slot to adjust the shifter location forward and back.

The Hurst aftermarket mt plate is same for BB and SB and is a more solid design thick steel plate with a spacer plate but does not have the slot to provide the adjustment.

here is a thread where I posted pictures of the two OEM mt plates

That is the same company that made the Yenko clone.

I wonder what the buyers do about taxes. Some states get a 7% sales tax when you go to register the car. That will be over 7K just to put plates on it.

Yes some of the 1968 Yenko 427 Super Camaros were SS RS with COPO 9737

The was also a 1968 SS L78 TH400 Nova with COPO 9738

Maintenance / Re: Why am I burning up spark plugs so quickly?
« on: November 17, 2008, 02:40:26 PM »
Are you sure you are using the correct spark plug? Sounds like the heat range is too cold.

Maybe a hotter plug will help but you need to check if it is ok to run that heat range

I have a set of NOS Delco shocks in the box that look like Camaro rears and have a 1966 date part no. on the shock is 3178182

they have a "BS" decal that is 1.5 inch from top edge of shock to top of decal.

I can't find the application for these. Do you have a number for the Camaro rears?

nice job. Looks like some great info there

you need the 2 rubber parts and 2 metal locking shim parts. This all goes together with the shifter stick to make a sandwich that holds it in

probably part of the TCS emission system

Without knowing all the facts, I tend to think, “What are the odds”?

We have Jerry, who has 30 plus years experience with an excellent resume a mile long VS a guy who restored a rust bucket Camaro into a “Cross Ram Z/28” and brought it to BJ to shoot for the moon.

Best I can do for you is 99 to 1.

Maybe we can take away an important lesson from all this.

Have the car checked before it is restored and/or take a lot of pictures during resto.
Take pictures of stripped vin area, tag area, all dates anywhere you can find them during resto.

Same with engine block. In a restored car a deck stamp can look pretty good but with the head off it can show an obvious decked block.

If you have a original stamped un-decked block, be sure to take pictues of the uncut deck with head off.

Take pictures of the sheet metal dates, crankshaft date code, rear end gears, etc. anything and everything you can find. It can't hurt.
