Thanks for the feedback. I guess I better check to see if the inlet is already cracked on the bottom side.

Maintenance / Q jet inlet fitting leak
« on: August 22, 2016, 01:37:09 AM »
I continually have  leaks around the fuel inlet fitting. Carb has been rebuilt. Threads are good and using a new 5/16 x 7/8 fitting. Carb runs great but can't seem to keep it from leaking. Any tricks?Question....

Was a 5/16 fuel line standard on early 67 L48. w Qjet by Carter? Non OEM fuel pump has a 3/8 outlet With an reducer. Just curious if issue originates at the fuel pump.

Restoration / Pinion yolk 10 bolt vs 12 bolt
« on: May 21, 2016, 09:59:55 PM »
Ok, finally installing OEM  (PI 1205G) 12 bolt with single hole radius rod bracket in my L48. The original has been missing since car was purchased in 1984, a 10 bolt had been install in in its place. Just noticed the pinion yolk U bolt holes are fractionally farther apart on the 12 vs. the 10. I'd rather get some real advice via this forum vs asking parts supply house on how to mitigate this problem. The 12 yolk also looks a little longer. My first intuition is the 12 bolt yoke is not original, so keeping that in mind, should a OEM 12 bolt, be a direct bolt up to a 10 bolt universal and drive shaft?

Thanks in advance,

Restoration / Rear End Replacement

Finally found original early 67 12 bolt with radius rod bracket for L48 car. Going to replace the 10 bolt that was under the car when I purchased it. Question is there any differences in the yolk or drive shaft I should be aware of or is this a direct bolt up ....as I think it is.

General Discussion / 12 bolt spring perch welds
« on: July 05, 2015, 12:55:35 PM »
Finally found the shell of a 67 12 bolt with radius rod bracket. Noted the welds around the spring perches are "beefed up" relative to what I would say was an original weld. How common was it to do this...or am i looking at a repair job?

Thanks Mike. I'm not aware of the manual you reference, but would like to find it.

Maintenance / L48 Gear ratio w/ P-Glide
« on: July 04, 2015, 06:59:52 PM »
What was the most common ratio provided in an 295/350 with a 2 speed powerglide? Finally found the "shell" of a correct rear end  with radius rod bracket and panning rebuild. Based on exisitng code it was originally a 356, but somewhere along the line I heard a 331 was most common? Any data to support?

Thanks,

Read this this string of comments and the scenario described by Z28Z11 (April 15) is exactly what I have going on. I need a good carb guy to send it to. Any reliable suggestions?

I would like to know what the original flex plate size for 1967 l48. I have not been able to find a a cover that fits over a 163 tooth on a small block 350, so makes me wonder if flex plate is correct.

Restoration / 1967 L48 Flywheel/flexplate size

Bought an original/virgin 1967 L48 engine. It has a 163 tooth flywheel. Was this the original size and if so where do you find a torque convertor cover that fits over top?

Thanks for the help, one last question,... there is a 12 bolt on ebay right now (and the reason for my recent questions) which ends today. Its relatively close to where I live and somewhat hard to overlook. Thoughts on applicability and risk?

ORIGINAL 67 CAMARO Z 28 396 SS 12 BOLT POSI REAR END,

Thanks again for the help..

took a little paint removal....

the axel code is PW 0123G_ with a casting date of L276

The trim tag build date is 01A, while the dates appear to be within a couple weeks of each other, it appears there is some offset in time, would that be expected or is this not the original rear end?

Restoration / 1967 SS 350 Air Cleaner
« on: February 24, 2013, 02:52:24 AM »
Can anyone confirm the diameter of the SS350 air cleaner. Infomration on CRG indicates it is 15.45 dia. All afftermarket air cleaners are 16" or larger and do not clear the coil. Any thoughts?
