136  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Kerosene washing??? on: January 19, 2007, 01:02:31 AM
I remember my grandfather using kerosene, but he only used it to wash off bugs, road tar, and other hard to remove grim. It probably worked better on the old laquer paint then what it would on todays paints.

Sorry to take so long, I was not able to get back over to the guys house that is selling the car untill today. The first time I looked at the tag was in the dark and using a flashlight but in the day light the bottom line is as follows.

W    2L  3K

which makes more since 4 spd & style trim group
138  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / help with 67 trim tag on: October 29, 2006, 02:43:51 PM

I have been looking for another 1st gen car for some time and found one today. The car has been used as a drag car and is not very orgional anymore as it has subframe conectors, auto trans but still has the clutch peddle, small block v8 unknown cid, 10 bolt rear end mulit rear springs, and what looks to be dealer installed A/C (underdash unit) it seems complete but needs a lot of work. I was courious if someone could help me decode the trim tag it is as follows.  thanks

 01D                                                      8
ST 12437                              NOR 77XXXX BODY
TR 717 Z                                D-D             PAINT

I might be wrong but I believe the 69 Camaro was produced longer in 1969 ( like November rings a bell) because the 1970 Camaro was not released for sale untill Feburary 1970. Thats why some people call the 1970 a 1970 1/2.

bertfam, Thanks for the link to that artical!!!!

Wow! that was one of the most interesting reads on Camaro's I have had in a long time! While at this time I don't have a first gen car ( I have in the past restored a 68 SS350 convt and a 69 RS which is how I leard about this site)  I do have a 1970 RS/SS396 and a 1971 SS350 and I'm sure a lot of the information is the same.
