Restoration / Re: What is the Correct Interior Red?
« on: April 18, 2020, 04:15:16 AM »
I dont know about a 1969 but years ago I had a 68 that was triple red. It was a base 327 and a 3 on the tree, but from what I remember it was a bright red similar the steering wheel on that impala. Not a dark red like what you show in your picture. I do know on mine that the red was pretty much all the same meaning, carpet, door panels, dash, seats and the rest. Not a mix of two or more shades of red. Sorry I don't have a pictures but hopefully someone will.

Try a little gas or stating fluid down the carb and see if it will fire.

Most I see are either total hulks or restored dont see too many with the day two look to it. Used to see a lot of them like that in the late 70s and 80s. Would be neat to see the build sheet/broadcast sheet.

Seems kind of cool, would take some money to make it right but you don't see them like this much anymore.

Very cool! I bought my 68 Z from the second owner. However I'll never get to talk to the first as he has passed on. Please share some stories what you learn them, they are great to hear.

 He Joe,
Hope you and your wife are doing well. Check ebay, there is a red 69 z for sale on there at this time that might be a car to compare with. It sounds more original but needs restored.

Best wishes,
Grayling

If the formula is big engine, hipo parts from the factory, light weight body, than why not a 57 Chevy 210 with the fuel injected 283? The 210 was lighter than the Belair 283 was the biggest engine Chevy had and with fuel injection (exotic at the time) made one horsepower per cubic inch of displacement. That was big news for 1957. I think this is a subject that could be debated until the end of time and you won't find a consensus to it. I feel most do agree that it was the 64 gto that started it. However horsepower wars were going on before that.

Yes on the center emblem for the grill. I believe yellow is the correct color bulb at least that is what the 67's I've had, had.

Where did you live when you had that 68 z? I cannot help you trace the Vin but my car came from west Texas and the guy I got it from said he bought it after it was traded in on a new vega. Mine is blue on blue if you were in west Texas at that time maybe the same car? There were only 7199 1968 z's could not have been a lot of blue on blue in west texas. I would be interested to find out if it's the same car.its a long shot but maybe?

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1967 SS350 Decode? HELP?
« on: December 24, 2014, 08:50:47 PM »
2m is powerglide, no turbo 350 in 67 camaros and turbo 400 was a big block only.
My one 67 L35 w/TH400 has the UOIT listing 2M as M35 "PWR GLIDE AUTOMATIC"
I believe this to mean the Fisher body was prepared to use an automatic transmission in general and not indicative of the model transmission used.

Mike
I agree the point I was trying to make is that with the car being a small block it had to be a power glide.  No other choice for a small block 67.
