Mild Modifications / Re: Brake booster removal for 69 camaro
« on: August 31, 2006, 04:03:32 PM »
Location of the bracket that supports the conection of the hard line to the rubber hose, is on the side of the sub frame on drum brake cars and on the top of the sub-frame on disc brake cars. You will have to run power drum brake lines for the front, or purchase and relocate the brackets.
Good Luck

Restoration / Re: 1968 Camaro Front Coil Spring Replacement

I just completed the task on my 69. I got a compressor from advanced auto (the same thing is also available from Eastwood) for $35. It is the internal type and has to be dismantled to be removed. The clamps have to be turned endways to fit thru the shoch hole. Try passing your's thru the shock hole, without the spring in place, to see if they fit. This is the worst job of reasembling the whole car.

Krylon semi-flat black works. It's acrylic lacquer so watch out for blush on a humid day. it's a very good color and gloss match for interior and under hood also.

Thank You for the picture. Most pictures I have seen aren't taken fron this angle and don't show the detail. I see your metering valve is painted black. I was wondering what the finish would be on the front hex fitting if it was umpainted? Maybe just bare steel. Thanks again four help.

A couple of questions please...for 1969 earily production LA

What was the finish of the large hex fitting on the front of the proportioning valve.

Trying to install the pro. valve to master cyl. the tab on pro. valve bkt. has to go under the master boss by where it bolts to booster. This causes the pro. valve to sit unlevel. Is this correct of should their be a cutout in the master mounting boss to accomodate the tab on pro. valva mtg. blt.

What was the finish for the clamps on the sway bar rubber pieces next to the bushings that attact to the frame.

Which alternator and voltage reg. would be used on trans. iginition for ZL1

This is a great site for all things Camaro and Thank you for your help.
