General Discussion / Re: Gardner transverse muffler system
« on: March 21, 2007, 06:49:09 PM »
KevinW, At the Gardner web site, click on Camaro (right side of screen) then from the drop down menus (center of screen) select " ZL1 undercariage". It shows the tranverse system. I'm not sure if any of the sound clips are of it though.

Thanks for the photo Click (Jim). I have an 01D LA car and it is set up like this. I had thought only drum brake cars had the bkts. on the top of the frame.

Decoding/Numbers / Location of front brake lines?
« on: March 15, 2007, 08:10:54 PM »
I was reading another post that mentioned the location of the front brake lines, on top of the frame on on the side. I was wondering what the significance of the location was. If they are on top, as with drum brakes and the car has disc brakes then the clamp that holds thte rubber line to the "A" arm cant be used...correct?
Thks.:

Hello all: Is it true that a  big block with auto trans and power disc brakes would have had 2 brackets under the rear carb bolt? 1. Power brake pipe to hose. 2. Kick down switch bkt. If not where was the power brake pipe mounted?Did they use a different pipe?
Thks.:

Restoration / Re: Filling small holes with lead or new combo metal rods

MIG (micro wire inert gas) welders use gas (carbon dioxide or argon) to shield the moltin metal pool from the oxygen(and other contaminents) in the air, thus preventing slage formation. Flux core welders use the flux in the core (sometimes borax) to do the same job. I would imagine the MIG-flux can do it both ways. Sometimes the less you pay for something the worse it works. I would get a good one as youl'l have it your whole life. I perfer the MIG myself but thats just me.
Good luck

Filling holes with this stuff will require a build-up of material. You may want to  contact a local body shop or welder in your area. Some guys have portable equiptment and will come to your place. MIG welders are very good for this. My body guy puts a piece of copper behind holes and then welds them up. The weld won't stick to the copper. When finished grinding you can't tell anything was done.

Talk to Classic Auto Air Mfg. Co in Tampa FL. 813-251-2356 (I dont know if your supose to post phone no's. here)They made a hose for an elcamino I did years ago. I got a rebuilt compressor and the valve  from an auto parts store. You may have to change refrigerents, but I beleive you can get a kit from the auto parts store also.
Good luck

I have searched all the camaro web sites I know about, but can't find a detaled list of everything you got with 9737. I know about the 140 mph spedo and the 13/16" sway bar andt the 15" wheels (were they rallies or steel w/ dog dish). I've also heard you would get some trim package. Thank for the help.

Restoration / Re: restoring the glove box lid and right side lower dash.

Try to strip of the fake wood grain (if it's like contact paper) with some of that citric acid based (orange) stripper for adhesives. That shouldn't harm the original paint underneath. It may be all you have to do.
Good luck:

Hello: Does anyone have any experience with the repo dash insert (plastic piece that holds gages) now available from the suppliers? How is the fit and quality? How is the chrome? I will appreciate any input.
Thks.:
