I have the system on my Z and i've been told that by adding a crossover tube, it elimintaes alot of the brutally loud pop and crackle under part throttle accelleration.

i don't mind the noise whent he pedal is kissing the floorboard, but just cruising from 1800-2200rpm it crackles so bad that it soudns like a fleet of harley davidisons with strait pipes driving under a viaduct LOL...if you can imagine.

i know this is why the system was discontinued, and I know that all of the other Chambered systems on the market use a packing material that deadens the sound to a greater degreee but the Gardner is concours and what I want to keep on my car.

anyone have any input on this?

Thanks

Aaron

Restoration / need a transverse muffler for 69 Z ,
« on: July 27, 2006, 11:19:01 AM »
i have a gardner chambered exhaust on my 69 Z and it is simply too loud, and very very restrictive.

i'm done showing the car, and want to put a 2.5 inch mandrel bend sytem on it, but want the stock look of a transverse muffler behind the rear axle and the chrome tip pipes.

where can i get the correct style muffler and tail pipes? anyone know where I can get these things?

thanks

i'm trying to find a buddy I met a few years ago, named John Miller.. he lived downriver and had a light green 68 Z, and eventually picked up a white 67 SS.

I helped him with a few things on his Z and one day, his number stoped working and he no longer lived at the house that I had known.

anyone know of this guy, or how to get ahold of him... he was a regular cruiser on Telegraph and Downriver.

Thanks
Aaron

General Discussion / 140 cam, manifolds, and cross ram????
« on: June 22, 2006, 02:39:27 PM »
i'm seeing alot of z's restored with the new crossram, 140 cam, and exhaust manifolds with smog.

i love the idea, but can't believe that it runs better than the 30-30 cam with single 4bbl on the street with manifolds.
I've got the stock parts on my car and have been thinking of doing the crossram swap, but curious to know if others have gone this route and kept the manifolds on the car?

can anyone speak to this?

thanks
