1082  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: How do members stand on dealer installed undercoating? on: November 08, 2006, 10:15:30 AM
Plastic scrapers or wooden paint stir sticks and kerosene is the best method I have heard of...
It will be alot of hours... I have heard close to 100 or more...
1083  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Clutch Return Spring Installation with Headers in '69 Camaro Z/28 on: November 08, 2006, 10:09:23 AM
I reversed the clutch spring and the extension rod... then looked for a direct route where it would not rattle against the header... I will see if I can take a photo of where I ran the rod and spring...

I replaced one about a 3 months ago with out loosening the fender or inner fender as well.
It was a PITA but then again so would have taking loose the fender.

Inside was the bigger PITA!!!
1085  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 69 Z28 motor / trans authentication on: November 06, 2006, 10:07:47 PM
The vin derivative on the engine and trans should display the same characteristics...
So if one has an inverted number or an out of line number the other should as well or if one has a 3 with a flat top... so should the other.
They were stamped one after the other with the same gang stamp.

Also I have a 618 DZ  casting date is D79 and the nine looks very much like an 8.

1086  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 67 REAR ANTENNA OPTION on: November 04, 2006, 05:13:32 PM
No 67's came with a rear spoiler from the factory... 68 and 69 could not have the rear ant with rear spoiler, the spoiler will hit the ant.

35k..... LOL
A friend just paid 1/2 a million for his building lot on the lake...
The lots on the golf course and the lake are over a mil.

John,
I am questioning whether your trunk weather stripping is original or not. The texture of the surface is very smooth compared to the latex ones I have seen. To me it looks like a AM softseal weather stripping, however, if you tell me that it is latex covered foam then I will take you at your word. Would you be kind enough to check it again?

Thanks,

James

John does your car have the orange mark on the weatherstripping?
I was told that the orange mark indicated the center of the weatherstripping... and that it was supposed to be offset to the right... guess that was not 100%.
Actually yours is the first I have seen that did not follow this pattern.

The pics I showed are of the unrestored 04C Norwood car... John does yours have weather stripping adhesive oozing out of the channel... I know that this one does in multiple places.

Either a picture or a confirmation on the tag would be appreciated.

Mark... things are great down here... it has been colder but this weekend was in the low 70's and we went cruising in the black 69 Z.
I went to Clemson... and love the lake... Keowee is much better than Hartwell though. They just built a new golf course on Keowee and Oprah, Tom Glavin, John Smoltz, Michael Jordan, as well as many others have homes up there. Gary Player is moving his business and his family here as well... building another new course for him...
CRAZY ... property values in the upstate of SC are going into the stratosphere.

by the way I love the 68 L78... 68's RS/SS's are probably my favorite first gen.
1094  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Early 1969 z/28 (short spoiler) on: October 31, 2006, 09:28:34 AM
Those stripes look very much like the ones on the black car that I have as well... very shoddy tape job.
Stripe bleeds under the tape edge everywhere.

Here is a photo of the orange mark on the original trunk seal this is the pass side stripe...

Asking about the trunk weatherstripping just to see if it was original and if so does it have any overspray anywhere on it... close to where it goes in the channel? it is very hard to repaint the rear end and not get any overspray on the trunk seal unless the whole opening was taped off.

Here is another of the stripe ends... look at the overspray...
1095  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Early 1969 z/28 (short spoiler) on: October 30, 2006, 07:14:32 PM
Does the car have the original trunk weatherstripping in it?
If so it the ends will not meet in the center it will be off to the left a bit and there should be an orange mark on the weatherstripping... it should be located near the left hand side of the passenger side stripe.
