260  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Judging criteria for 1st Gen Camaro on: February 27, 2008, 11:19:57 PM
are points deducted for original Dealer emblems or decals installed by the dealer?
Seems to be getting popular to put them back on restored cars now.

Jerry can speak for Camaro judging, but in NCRS Flight Judging, there is no deduction for dealer emblems, as they were part of "normal" dealer prep; installed non-factory decals or pace car-type decals are subject to major deductions, as they weren't part of "normal" dealer prep - they were an "extra", paid for by the customer who wanted them installed. Judges will expect to see "pace car"-type decals rolled up in a package in the storage area, as they left the factory.

What about the options that were installed by the dealer, not necessarily at the request of the purchaser?
More specifically - I am torn between repainting the stripe on my 69 or leaving it off. I am now fairly certain this was a dealer added option. I am also contemplating replacing the under dash mounted 8-track- definately not factory
Thanks

Please see the thread from Camaros.net

This is the source of my confusion.  It Leads me to believe that a 350SS could either have a 361, 338, or a 420 starter.

I have been researching a starter for a 69 SS 350. I have come across various sources that state different numbers. Does anyone know of a definitive list of the specific applicatons for each starter?
Thanks Chris

Jerry
Do you recommend not using hardened valve seats on all motors? I have a 350/300 and it was given hardened seats years ago when CA switched to unleaded gas. Is it difficult to switch the seats back?
Thanks for your time

267  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Factory or Dealer on: January 23, 2008, 09:20:21 PM
I am currently restoring a 69 SS. I have several options that I assume are dealer installed. I am thinking of entering the car for judging when restoration is complete. Should I leave off the dealer options or re-install them?

The list of options that I can come up with are: The single stripe ( which will be restored ); Under dash 8track ( was located to the left of the gauge cluster under the radio); three 6x9 speakers across the rear (it has an AM/FM - not stereo radio); and a full body undercoating.
Thank you for your comments

268  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / restoration sheetmetal on: January 23, 2008, 09:10:01 PM
What are the differences between imported vs. domestic sheetmetal panels?
For judging would it be better to repair damaged original sheetmetal or replace it?

My block is E229
