General Discussion / valve confusion
« on: August 09, 2014, 07:03:50 AM »
I got a call from my machine shop today letting me know the valves I had purchased to replace my originals were too small.
I have a 350/300 with 041 heads and purchased the 1.94 and 1.50 valves
Are these not the correct valves? What other valves would be in 041 heads?
This was a Tonawanda built motor so it should not have 2.02/1.60. am I right with this thinking?
I know the history of the car and know the heads have only been off twice, once to repair a head gasket and when I replaced the rings.

Originality / Kelsey - Hays Wheels

Does anyone know how Rally wheels were stamped? Date coding (production year or calendar year)?
I have seen many wheels with the date and code upside down. All of mine are right side up.
Thanks
Chris

Restoration / Inspection Marks
« on: June 13, 2008, 02:41:43 AM »
I have found the PBT to the right of the master cylinder and an aditional T under the cowl tag. Are there any others I should be looking for? I have seen pics of over restored vehicles with the PBT markings above the heater inlet.
Thanks for any help you can provide

General Discussion / Engine assembly book?
« on: May 21, 2008, 06:10:05 PM »
I have the AIM and the Fisher Manuals for 1969, but they are vague when it comes to some of the nuances between the different motors. Is there an assembly manual for the motor?
Thanks
Chris

Does anybody know what the part number is for the original fuel pump for the 350/300 motor? I think I may have found one, but need to confirm the number.
Thanks

General Discussion / water pump installation
« on: April 16, 2008, 08:03:50 PM »
Was the water pump installed on the block prior to the engine assembly date? or would it have been after?
Also What is the difference between the 692 and the 170 pumps? I keep reading that the 170 was installed on Tonawanda blocks and the 692 everywhere else, is this correct?
hypothetically - could my 06A tonawanda motor have a 692 pump? I am trying to find a replacement that would be date/ cast correct for my engine.
Thanks for your input
Chris

Decoding/Numbers / Head stampings
« on: April 15, 2008, 02:05:33 AM »
I started disassembling my motor and I found some perculiar stampings
Does anyone know what they mean?
These are on 3947041 heads with an E229 cast date.
one is a L stamped on the middle nub just below the valve cover - only on the driver's side
the other appears to be 334  S on the outside of the head next to the casting symbol on the front of the engine - on both heads

Thanks for the info

Restoration / Painting
« on: April 02, 2008, 06:54:35 PM »
I am in the process of stripping my car in preparation of painting.
What was on the main body as it was painted? I now the front clip was off.
What about the rear deck lid? Doors?
Was the cowl piece installed?
Thanks
