Gloss black lacquer is not as glossy as gloss black enamel or urethane. That is a pretty good match. I had mine powdercoater semi black and they look perfect.

I love stories like this. I hadn't spoken to the guy I bought my Z from, since I bought it in 1978. A couple of years ago, after hearing about another success story locating an original owner, I looked the guy up. After catching up for a while, mike tells me, I still have some stuff from the car. He came to my house with a picture of the car from 1976, and the original owners manual and dealer envelope! Car was sold new at H.M. williams, where the Vitar transmission COPO was sold. I need to get back in touch with him as he said he may have more stuff, possibly the protect-o-plate. When I told him "Come on, why don't you take it for a ride", I thought he would crap his pants! The look on his face while driving it was priceless! Unfortunately, he doesn't remember who he bought it from, but we can work on that. Looks like I have a phone call to make!

Cool piece of history, but I wonder why it was painted the wrong color? Figure another 10k to strip it and paint it correctly.
7  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Service Engines (CE coded) on: December 06, 2014, 05:34:00 PM
Tim, I think it can be close. Of course depending on how fast you blew up your original block. My 70Z has a CE block cast a week after the production date of the car. It has the replacement POP.

Not unless you have Chip Foose working with you.

The seller has posted that the car is a clone. Someone pointed out that the trim tag is a fake. Sounds like a stand up guy.

Is it me, or should there only be one dash for spec paint and "2" for black vinyl roof?

X2. I have dealt with Jim since he was the only one answering the phone. He told me along time ago "if I wouldn't put it on my car, I wouldn't sell it!". His website will tell you if something is "technically correct" NOS, or 100% correct.

The vin is too early for an 010 block. Very easy to add a z/28 emblem.
