« on: January 10, 2021, 04:56:07 PM »
I’m down here! In Sarasota but will be visiting a buddy of mine in Punta Garda. It was on my list of things to do, had no idea it was closing down!

1969 - Orphans / Re: 1969 z motor vin 9n643582. In Louisville KY

Why would the partial vin be on the pad? I don’t like the stamp, but I’m no expert.

Restoration / Re: 1969 AMD quarter panel

Bentley, not sure if this helps, but I used AMD quarters on my 70 Z project. They were the best aftermarket quarters my body man had ever installed. He said they fit like nos. Hopefully someone will chime in on the 69’s. Hope all is well, stay safe!

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 Z28 red tag
« on: October 19, 2020, 10:45:54 PM »
Could it be that it’s a van Nuys car, and the trim tag didn’t call out Z/28? I have changed the headliner in my 05A Norwood Z. I put a chair through it after a show! A lot of expletives that day! There was no tag in my car.

Basically, SS trumps RS.

Bet our cars are close in production. I have an 05A Burnished Brown Z. I have owned it since 78, and my search goes back to the guy I bought it from. When I recontacted him to ask where he got it from, he sai “I don’t know”. New York wasn’t a title state until 73. Good luck with your search.

I would say it was a factory screw up. What are the odds of a rebody with the car before it on the assembly line?

Couldn’t seem to get the grille emblem right either!

A friend of mine had a LeMans blue 69 Z with blue interior. I will have to see if I have any interior shots. This was back in 75, I doubt it was changed.

General Discussion / Re: Original Color?
« on: January 31, 2020, 03:15:27 PM »
My Burnished Brown car was Daytona Yellow when I bought it in ‘78. It was a nice paint job, but I just couldn’t get past the fact the the color was changed. BB was NoT a popular thing in The late 70’s. It was a lot of work, but glad I put it back to orig. I get a lot of comments when it comes out.

Charles, you will not be disappointed. I added everything Z21 on my X77 car back in 82 when I last painted it. EXCEPT the gills! For this reason. Never wanted to fill the holes. Of course, I have removed everything since then. If you are young enough to be able to post pics (I am not!) please do!

The OTC 7045B is the safest way to go.
