Decoding/Numbers / vehicle manufactured date
« on: August 14, 2007, 08:24:15 PM »
We have been able to break down all the numbers for our 1967 Camaro Coupe except that the Fisher body was built sometime during the 4th week of March 68 and the car was assembled sometime during the 1st week of April 68. My question is: Is there documentation somewhere that can break these 2 down to a SPECIFIC day/date?

Thanks in advance

Restoration / 67 stock wheels
« on: January 07, 2007, 05:58:28 PM »
We have our 67 SS-350 just about complete. When we went to paint the wheels we noticed they were 15". What we are looking for are the original stock rims. They are as follows:

14" x 6" with 4" offset steel rims "non rally type" as this car came with drum brakes all around.

Any one knowing the where abouts of a set of 4 for sale please direct us to them.

Thanks in advance

Originality / Original air cleaner for the 67 SS-350
« on: November 01, 2006, 02:42:15 AM »
We have our engine almost complete however we are in a quandry over the air cleaner. We searched for a long time, and sent 2 back to the suppliers, for what we thought was the CORRECT air cleaner. Thge one we have is large enough to have a notch at the back in order to clear the distributor however the top lid actually touches a spark plug wire. Someone from a local Camaro club has told us we have the wrong unit. He claims the original was smaller in diameter. Our problem is that we can not find any details on the proper size for the ORIGINAL air cleaner.
Does anyone have pictures of the SS-350 with an original air cleaner mounted on it or can someone direct me to a web site or alsewhere where we can get correct information. We are trying to restore this car to as much originality as possible so please no after market air cleaners. Our only info to date is that the original was a "closed element unit with a chrome lid".

Originality / PCV connection
« on: August 29, 2006, 09:45:28 PM »
We have our 67 SS-350 motor almost complete. We have found the correct dated carburetor, vacumm line to the distributor, alternator brackets etc. One problem we are having is it appears there was a PCV valve some how connected from the front of the carburetor to a fitting at the rear of the block. This fitting at the rear of the block is where the blow by tube was plugged in on previous years engines. If anyone has detailed information and or pictures of this PCV system we would be most appreatiative.

Thanks

Thanks again

Originality / 67 spoiler question
« on: August 07, 2006, 08:59:23 PM »
In our quest to restore our 67 SS-350 we are unable to verify whether this car is supposed to have a rear spoiler or not. There was one on the car when we received it however along with the other things we found wrong we wonder about the spoiler.

Does it belong on this car or not?

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / Re: Pictures

We are looking for correct pictures for the outside, interior and engine. We know some things changed in mid year and this coupe was built during the first week of April/67 and it is SS only, not RS SS.

Thanks

Does anyone know where i can get DETAILED pictures of a 67 SS-350 Coupe. We are hearing different things from people, some of which mean well, but don't know what they are talking about.

Thanks

Maintenance / Oil Leak
« on: July 14, 2006, 03:02:14 PM »
Our Muncie 4 speed (original to the 1967 Camaro) leaks oil around the input shaft. There is no seal behind the front cover. We understand that this was fixed in either 68 or 69.

Does anyone know of a fix for the leak in the early transmitions?

Thanks in advance

Originality / Re: Correct shifter
« on: June 28, 2006, 12:40:59 PM »
We have decided to put the Muncie shifter back in the car. We have all the parts including the "Strut Rod". My question is: Does anyone have a picture of how the strut rod is attached?

Thanks

Originality / Paint
« on: June 21, 2006, 12:51:18 PM »
We pulled the engine/transmition to do the cleaning/etc. In the process nobody noticed if the bell housing was painted or not. My question is: was the bell housing painted originally and if so was it the same colour as the engine?

Thanks in advance

Maybe we will leave the Hurst in the car

Originality / Correct shifter

The shifter that is in our 67 SS-350 is a Hurst. From what we read it should be a Muncie. Can anyone tell us if the Hurst unit came from the factory in some cars?

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / how many
« on: May 29, 2006, 08:59:35 PM »
We have a 67 SS-350 coupe with matching numbers, tourquois w/white stripe & black interior, built in April/67. Is there any way of telling how many of this configuration were made?

Thanks

Bob
