3991492 with casting date of K30 1... 64cc Straight plugs - press-in studs - accessory holes - and in the middle of the head there is a GM 56 - not sure what that means...  They originally came with 2.02s

Just trying to confirm... Did all the 3991492 heads after 1970 come with 2.02s? Also, what were the performance differences between these service replacements and the stock 302 heads? Any improvement?

Good choice. You must be excited about getting it back. Hopefully it is sooner than later.

Phil... Did you get your tires yet? If so, which ones?

Thanks guys. Looks kind of bulky to fit between the springs. I wonder if it will hit during a hard turn. Can't hurt to try. Thanks for the feedback.

I really don't want to raise the car any. I assume the spacers will lift, rather than lower, right?

On Muscle Car TV, they lowered the front ride height of the car by cutting off the end of the coil springs. I would like to "level" my car by lowering one side in the same manner. It is just a small amount, but it enough to bother me.

Has anyone tried this? Will it affect the integrity of the spring?

Is there any other way to lower the front ride height just a smidge?

Thanks for the input.

Thanks again... Once installed, how much space (if any) should be between the shock plate and the axle mounts?

Thanks for the info... Same for 1969?

Can someone confirm that the rear leaf spring shock plate for a multi-leaf (z/28) application would have a single shock support as opposed to the double version?

Thanks.

Restoration / Re: Seat Belt Dye

Thanks Phil. I was considering them, but was hoping I could get it done at home. When I last cleaned them, I must not have rinsed them enough, or maybe the soap I used had a little bleach.  Two of the belts have a pink sheen.  Thanks for providing that thread.

Can anyone recommend a black dye (or process) that can be used to restore the color to the belt? The buckles are in good shape, but the belts can use some help.

General Discussion / Re: Judging criteria for 1st Gen Camaro

Sorry if this is a bit off the "recall" / concours judging topic...

At a recent Super Chevy Show, Tremec (the main sponsor) had a big booth and was giving away a tranny. I was curious if having one of these would push a car out of the "Stock" category into the "Street" category.  They bumped someone out of the Stock class because of an aftermarket radio (the rest of the car was completely stock). I emailed Super Chevy the question, and they kept referring the question to someone else. I guess it was a "conflict of interest" as I did not get an answer.

I would imagine that a Tremec would push a Stock class car to Street even if the rest of the car complies with the Stock judging criteria. Any one know if that is the case?

I don't have them on my 69. I prefer the white knuckle ride of the Polyglas. But, it is just a weekend car for me.

My first set of radials were the Firestone Firehawk SS that went on my '78 Camaro. I got these because I knew someone that worked for Firestone and got them cheap.

But, I always loved the Radial T/As. That was the tire to have "back in the day" ... my day, at least  :)

They get my vote.
