Restoration / Re: 67 speedo cable routing / clips

Would  '68 be the same?

Your build sheet MIGHT be above the gas tank.  It MIGHT also be tucked into a seat spring, up under the dash, behind a door panel or even somewhere else.   If it is above the gas tank you may or may not see it.    I sincerely hope you find it but don't count on it.  They're usually long gone by now.  If you do find it it is very useful because it lists every option on the car and other info.   Good Luck.  Keep us posted.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: need help before buying (cowl Tag info)
« on: May 25, 2006, 01:45:55 AM »
st 69 = 1969
12437 = Camaro coupe
los = Los Angeles(built there)
119538 = unit number at that plant
tr = trim code
711 = black standard interior
76 = Daytona yellow
B = black top
10A = time built code = oct, 1st week
D80 = air spoiler equipment

This is my first time decoding a Camaro on a web site.  I'm sure someone with a little more expertise might find a mistake and/or give you more details, but this will get you going.   Good Luck!

How did I do guys?

Maintenance / Re: Ethanol in the tank
« on: May 22, 2006, 09:34:08 PM »
Not sure about the ethanol, but I've always been told to keep the tank full to minimize water in the fuel.  Also, look for a gas additive called "Stabil".  Pour in a bottle once a year.  Keeps gas "fresh", which is a good thing if your Camaro sits all winter long like mine.  A bottle of Dry Gas once in a while is good too.

I'm glad the Camaro is coming back but I just don't like the looks of this one. :(

Daily driver you say?  3:73 would be a safe bet.

Originality / Re: 68 Camaro deluxe steering horn shroud
« on: May 16, 2006, 09:06:53 PM »
 ???  What do you mean by "side skirts"?  I have an original/unrestored '68 deluxe steering wheel.  It's mostly black with very thin chrome accents lines.  I'll take a pic and post it next time I'm out in the garage.

I've never seen one with the wood accents you described.

Ronnie, F.Y.I. - The finned valve covers didn't show up on the Camaro Z/28 until  1969.

Originality / Re: Black windshield washer jar?
« on: May 11, 2006, 02:32:27 PM »
Thanks for the good info especially the bracket info.  I was thinking it was unique to Camaro RS.  I'll check a Firebird site.  I'm a long way from showing the car, but when I do I think I'll keep the black jar in it.  Maybe I can get the judges scratching their heads.  I was just curious more than anything.  When I bought the car in '83 it was extemely original and unrestored, so I was thinking it might be something rare.  Maybe they just ran out of white jars that week or something.

I posted the same question over at Camaros.net and I got 1 reply back saying that the Firebird jars were black.  What do you think?

Thanks Phil.  There's no part # on it although I pulled it out and on the bottom there is a  C  over a  3  like this:

C

3

Would a Vette jar be the same shape?   I'm not famiiar with Corvettes that much.  As you can see in the pic it fits the Camaro RS bracket perfectly.

Originality / Black windshield washer jar?

This has been in my '68 SS/RS 350 since I bought the car in '83. Anyone ever seen a black one before? I haven't. It appears to me to be original. It's black plastic all the way through, not dyed or painted.

General Discussion / Re: 1967 RS/SS
« on: May 10, 2006, 02:37:42 AM »
No way.  All 67-69 350 Camaros had a Rochester 4 barrel.   A '67 327 could have a 2 bbl or 4 bbl, but then it wouldn't be an SS.  SS had to have a 350 or 396.   Something's not right if he told you it's a #'s matching car.  Unless the  engine is original numbers matching and some dummy put a 2bbl intake and carb on it?  I don't think so.
