I can't find this casting number in any of my sources:  3914060 .  There is nothing on the stamp pad.
This is the engine I'm having built for my '68 SS/RS 350.  Can anyone ID it?  Thanks.

Restoration / Re-Chroming original valve covers
« on: March 16, 2008, 11:24:09 PM »
How good can I expect these to come out?  Can they even be done?  As you can see there is some rust in the corners and there are a few dings.  I've never had anything re-chromed so I don't know much about it.  These are original to the car so I'm really hoping they can be done nicely.

Here's the link to the pic.  I hope I did this right...

General Discussion / Steel Wheels/SS hubcaps
« on: March 25, 2007, 02:43:28 PM »
I currently have this setup all around:  14 x 6 steel rims with 225 70 r 14 tires.  Here's what I want to do.  I want to get larger wheels and tires for the rear, but I want to still be able to use my SS hubcaps.  Did GM make 14 X 7 rims?  And I'm not talkin' about rallye wheels, just the regular factory steel wheels.  If I can get a couple 14 X 7 rims, what size tires would fit?  235 60r 14?  I have stock front and rear suspension.   Thanks in advance.

Restoration / 3 groove crankshaft pully
« on: January 06, 2007, 04:40:58 PM »
I'm setting up power steering on my 68 SS/RS 350.  No smog pump or A/C.   I have everything I need except a  3 groove crankshaft pully.  I don't see one in any of the repop catalogs.  I have an old '66 327 sitting in my garage that has a 2-piece 3 groove crankshaft pully on it.  Can someone tell me if this would work?  Was the original 3 groove pully on a 68 350 a one peice or two peice design?  Thanks.

Restoration / Starter Wire Routing
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:07:27 AM »
Can someone descibe or post pics of the starter wire routing on a '68 SS/RS 350 Camaro? I'm talking about the 2 wires that come from the harness on the cowl area that run down behind to the starter.  Particularly, which side of the heater hoses do they go?  Which side of the exhaust manifold?   Is there any kind of heat shield?    Thanks.

Originality / Black windshield washer jar?
« on: May 10, 2006, 09:54:13 PM »
This has been in my '68 SS/RS 350 since I bought the car in '83. Anyone ever seen a black one before? I haven't. It appears to me to be original. It's black plastic all the way through, not dyed or painted.

Originality / SS Hupcaps
« on: April 14, 2006, 10:37:59 PM »
I have a '68 SS/RS 350 with the SS Hubcaps.  Does anyone know if these were standard on SS models or optional?  If optional, does anyone know what th RPO would be?  Thanks.
