I've never used synthetic oil.  I just had an engine built and my engine builder suggests that I go to synthetic.  I'm debating whether or not to use it.  The cost doesn't bother me.  But what got my attention is that he said it would add 5-7 h.p.  What do you think?

Thanks. Appreciate it.  That first 6 looks really funky, especially up close and in person.  Just wanted some of you guys to verify it.  But that's what it must be - a 68 327.   FYI my engine builder just completed it as a 355.  Going in my '68 SS/RS 350.

Here is the casting date I believe.  A 16 8.  That would be Jan 16, 1968, correct?

Here's a pic of the casting number.  3rd number from the end is in question.  Almost looks like a 3 or an 8 stamped over a 6.  6 would make sense, right?  Pic of date stamp coming next...

68 SS 350...  Bellhousing is natural finish with orange overspray, correct?  Any pics of a survivor?

Thanks but that's off by one digit. I found that one too while doing research.  I'm 100% certain of the numbers.

I can't find this casting number in any of my sources:  3914060 .  There is nothing on the stamp pad.
This is the engine I'm having built for my '68 SS/RS 350.  Can anyone ID it?  Thanks.

I have an intake from a 1966 327.  Part number 3905393.  I am not that interested in a correctly numbered intake at this point.  The one I have looks identical to the 3919803.  Would it work/perform okay?

Thanks guys.  BTW, this tranny is being used by my friend on a dirt track here in upstate NY.  We were just curious as to its' origins.  Fun stuff!  If only the original Camaro owner knew!!

Thanks Ed.  I will double check that vin.  It can be determined that this tranny was in a Camaro as opposed to any other model?
