Maintenance / Re: digital Instrument panel

what does the idiot light above the door ajar light mean on my 86 berlinetta digital dash
Since this is a 1st gen site you're not likely to get an answer. Much better would be this site  http://www.thirdgen.org/ TGO (Third Gen . Org) is a 3rd gen only site. I know this as I have a 67, an 89 and a 02 Camaro.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: COWL TAG HAS ME PUZZLED.. Is it worth while?
« on: April 14, 2006, 04:37:41 AM »
looks to be an early production (9D = 4th week Sept) and with the "1" preceeding the body number I believe it was made in 68.

It would have to be a late production car, The X codes weren't being used in September 1968.
Good point. I'm more into 67's myself. 69's aren't my strong point.

My guess is like everybody else....the "5OR" should be "NOR". looks to be an early production (9D = 4th week Sept) and with the "1" preceeding the body number I believe it was made in 68. Maybe whoever was making the tags came back from a "liquid" lunch on a Friday, stamped the wrong letter and decided to let it ride. If you can afford it, then restore it. The tag (personally I wouldn't have removed it) lends an aura of "factory goof" to the car.

Maintenance / Re: Battery draining issue
« on: March 20, 2006, 08:52:50 PM »
It appearse the issue was my "head space and timing: x-military guys will know what I mean.

anyhow , I was cranking the ignition key too far back and taking the key out. this , it seems, was keeping the generator light on (barly dimm to see unless dark) and draining the battery after a day or so.

I found this by accident actually.

thanks for the help

"Head space and timing". I haven't heard that one in over 30 years when I last played with Ma duece.... ;D

Site Comments/Discussion / Re: FINALLY!!!!!!

I know that this has been here for awhile, but being president of the local 3rd/4th gen club as well as a member of the 1st gen club has kept me from checking the place out in any depth. I must say that it looks good so far. I'll talk to the guys in the 1st gen club (which I just found out about and joined this year) and see if I can get them to check the site out and maybe enter some info on the cars they have (there are about 50 1st gen Camaros in the club). I've given you guys info on 3 of the 67's that I've had. Keep up the good work.

Mild Modifications / Re: Exhaust system for 67 ????
« on: March 14, 2006, 11:34:16 PM »
I have a 67 conv. with a 396 / 4 spd and hooker str. back headers which now needs the rest of the exhaust. I have been looking at the kits from summit, magnaflow, flowmaster and even got a few prices from local shops for a custom exhaust. So, what things do I need to look for? Does a 67 need to have the transverse muffler or will 2 smaller mufflers really fit under the car? Other issues? Thanks, Bruce
I have 2 Flowmaster mufflers under the rear seat area on my 67. They clear everything (including the ground) without a problem. You could go with a larger muffler in the transverse location (behind the rear axle) if you're looking at preserving originality, but seeing that you're using Hooker headers I'd go with 2 under the rear seats.
