1969 - Orphans / Re: 9N693219 - Z/28 engine block

Same seller now has the block for car 9N695586.  Same fuzzy pic of the engine pad.  I will start a new thread, but what are the chances of this guy coming up with two DZ blocks built 9 days apart?

Originality / Re: Door certification decal

My car, 671122 did not have the sticker on it.  I have owned it since 76, and my brother owned it before that.

Car 671208 did have the sticker.  Look on page 200 of Jerry's book (the 1993 edition).

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Is this an L89 aluminum head eng.?

Also, $18,000 for a Camaro in 1984 (before the first Muscle Car price run up in the late 80's) would be unheard of. These car were not collector cars yet at that time.

Actually, I looked at a very low mile 69 Z/28, white with black stripes in 1984.  It was advertised as "tight and right" and was in Chicasha Oklahoma.  Asking price was $15,000.00.

It is a shame this guy won't talk to Kurt to see if the car is the real deal.

Yes, they reset, I believe at 100001, but guess it could be 100000.  However, the BDY number doesn't necessarily mean that was the sequence out the door.  That would correspond more to the VIN.  VIN wasn't assigned until it was in the plant.  BDY # assigned much earlier in the process, and they did not necessarily go to the plant from fisher body in order.  Notice our car VIN's are 955 apart, but the BDY #'s are 1271 apart.  Other examples have an even greater spread.

Also, this is when GM started putting on the mylar VIN decal in the door jamb.  Mine does not have it, and never did, but the white car in Jerry's book (about 80 vin's after mine) did get it.  By all rights mine should have received the decal, being that the BDY number was reset, and I have a very low BDY number (381), but for whatever reason, it did not get the decal.

I know that the 08B date was skipped and was wondering if there are any 08A dates on cowl tag for 1969 extended production camaros? Thanks

Mine is 08A X77 D80 with body number 100381.  Vin 671122

There is a white one that is also 08A in Jerry's book.  Vin 68xxxx (can't remember exact vin)  Also know of a third one that has been parted out.  Was owned by guy with the name of lzdick on the yenko site.

Hope this helps.
