Had no idea.  I do not believe my car had the sticker.   My brother got it in 75, and I traded him for it in 76.  There was no evidence of any gum adhesive residue.

Hey Lynn, that sticker started in September 1 of 69, not august. You can see 08E cars that had the sticker, (to be delivered in September) but none prior.
That's a conflicted statement. 08E would be August built, not September.

Look at page 200 of Jerry's 1969 book.  John Berry's old car, vin 671208 (mine is 671122).  There is a pic of the sticker, and a pic of his vin.  John's car got the sticker, and it is an 08A car.  My car, just 86 cars earlier, did not get the sticker.  I have no other pics, but have talked to at least two others with 08A cars who told me their cars got the vin sticker.   The two ribs on the door started showing up in June, I believe.  I have never heard of a car prior to 08A getting the sticker.

Don't know why, but about 20 years ago, I was really interested to find more info on when those started.   Seems trivial now.  I even tracked down John Berry back then, and discussed this with him.   I believe he was in Florida at the time.

The argument over whether a late 69 Camaro (and Corvette for that matter... as the 69 Corvette extended production even further than the Camaro) is mainly a question of semantics.

All the VIN's indicate 1969 model year.   They DID have to comply with 1970 Federal standards which is why only the Camaros built after Aug. 1 recieved the blue mylar vin decal in the door, as well as the stamped vin on top of the dash.  Pre August cars do not have the decal in the door.

Someone enlighten me if I am wrong, but I believe that mylar decal was the ONLY Federal standard that applied to 70 models that did not apply to 69 models. 

Did one decal on the door make it a 70 model?   Does it really matter?

Not sure if any Z/28's got them, but there are a couple of very late 68 Camaros with 350 engines that got 1969 casting (186) heads.
The extra holes would not interfere with anything on the 68.

Agree with Kurt (and only saying because you asked for opinions).

If it were the ORIGINAL paint there might be a good argument for keeping it as is.   Even then, given the amount of surfacr rust, a good paint job might be in order.   Being that it is a repaint, the decision toward a good paint job is even easier.  It will preserve it much better.  JMHO, but it is moving fast beyond "patina".

WTH happened to that trim tag, other than having been removed from the car.  I know 68 tags don't give much info, and rarely get faked, but that edges have been cut off that one with shears (at least that is what it looks like) and it has definitely been off the firewall.   Aftermarket rivet (the one you can see) and not installed correctly.

Yes, if you are using the "newer" sizing, 255 60 15 is probably it for a 69.  I had a KILLER pair of 275 60 15 Hoosiers, and they were so close to rubbing with the car sitting still, I knew they would rub as soon as I started driving it.  Broke my heart to sell them.
I have 255 60 15 on the back right now, and there are no rubbing issues.   Your stock rally wheel should work fine with that size.  255 means it is just over 10 inches wide at teh section width, not tread width.   So a 9 inch wide slick has about a 10 inch section width.   As for heighth, the 255 60 15 is 27 inches tall.  If you can find a slick in the size stated above, 28 x 9, you should still be ok.  27 x 9 would also work.

It is a kind of badge of honor in a sick twisted way, to be called one of Charley's "idiot" friends.  I have alway taken it to mean it is a true "car guy".

I have a little running joke with my four year old twin grandsons.  I ask if their daddy is a "knucklehead" and they always say "yes".  Then I ask if their Pepe' (someone who shall remain me) is a knucklehead, and they always always say "yes".   We consider it a badge of honor to be considered a knuckleheads by the "scooters" (my nickname for the twins) in the same way that an "idiot friend" is a bit of a badge of honor coming from Charley.

This Ad wasn't an attempt to repair or replace a specific car's body using the original VIN, this isn't an example of bringing a specific VIN back to life by rebodying it.

This is after-the-fact request for a VIN and title. "Need vin and title for 1969 Camaro"

I can see having a specfic VIN and attempting to rebuild that camaro, even when everything needs to be replaced. But this is the reverse of that situation. I agree and understand the first, I don't agree with the this.

You are correct.   Selling a title and vin plate from a destroyed car is illegal.

The other scenarios vary by state.  You can build a dynacorn bodied car in Oklahoma, but it gets a state issued vin.
