Pics with and without the connector attached.

Isn't this the original style sending unit for a 69 with console gauges?
IIRC, that's the style without gauges.

Don't think so Kurt.   I believe that is a later style, and when sold for an earlier car, you got the new connector.  I believe the sender without gauges is the peg with a white insulator on the green wire.   Hardly ever see one.

I have a couple of NOS ones, along with the correct connector.  Thought I had pics, but can't find the pics right now.

They may not need re-arching.  You really won't know until you install them. I could not find a strap kit that was identical to the ones I removed when I restored mine about 10 years ago.  I made my own straps, and made "rivets" from bolts.  I did not have them re-arched, and they sit perfect.

Tag looks good; not the engine stamp.

Rear springs are not original.

I don't see ANY rivets holding that vin tag on.

No pic of pad stamp.  No phone number, so when the CL ad is gone, it is gone.

671953 would be an August car.  Mine is 08A and is 671122.

June 2 block is possible on an 08A car.

General Discussion / Re: Timing
« on: June 10, 2022, 12:31:14 AM »
I have put several 480 distributors (stock dist in a 69 Z) on my Sun distributor machine.   My experience is that the total timing does not come  in until close to 4000 rpm (2000 distributor rpm).

Don't for a second think that your mechanical advance has topped out at 2500 rpm unless the distributor has already been modified.   When Stingr69 said "Curve starts @ 1100 RPM and goes to 2600 RPM" I am quite certain that is what he strives for when recurving the distributor.   That means you may have to modify the advance weight and experiment with different springs.  It is a really tedious job to do with the distributor in the engine.  However, if you are willing to put in the time (no pun intended) you CAN achieve the same results as I can with a distributor machine.  It is just much easier on the distributor machine.

Also, my personal experience is to limit total vac advance to 10 to 12 degrees.   Your results may vary.

Maybe I need to up the insurance on my 10 10 X77D80 car.

At least my grill is silver, stripes are correct, my gas tank isn't painted, and my sub frame isn't all bent and dented.

What happened to the wheel well trim on this one?  They are all gone!

Have seen ribs on a June car.

So when did they quit piercing the deck lid down low where the spoiler went?  My 08A car does not have any unused holes under the spoiler.

Restoration / Re: Trunk sound deadner
« on: April 26, 2021, 01:10:07 AM »
You think this would be suitable on the inner 1/4s (coupes) where there is a thickened square with sound deadened applied?

I don't think that thickened square was a stick on material.  I believe they all look like that (or at least 99% of them do) simply from the way they were sprayed.

When I shot mine, I tried to replicate it, but I don't think the standard Shutz gun I was using was capable of creating such a sharp edge.  Could have been operator error.  I think they had a different gun that allowed a sharper edge.

My 08A car did not have one.

Still a few REAL 10 10 Z/28s out there.

I have one.  Thankfully, it is an X77 car, which isn't counterfeited as often.
