61  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Sick of seeing this Z on ebay on: December 08, 2012, 11:42:41 AM
They posted the entire report so compare yours to theirs I am sure Jerry was well aware of your inspection, looks like a nice car did you have it painted? thanks Darrell
Car was painted when I bought it. Looks like they did a cosmetic restoration since I had it. I can't seem to enlarge photos so I can read their report and compare it to mine.

I'll give my opinion - block is OK. I had it noted the VIN was by the oil filter many years ago.
Trans is not original. It didn't have the original trans years ago, but did the lizard tail thing and regrew one.

Why then was the VIN not near the oil filter when Jerry looked at it when I owned it? That was in 2008. Plus Jerry's comment "Can I say that this is definitely the original engine to this vehicle? I can neither confirm nor deny it's authenticity." Plus why did Jerry think the trans was original in 2008?

Looks like they had Jerry recertify the car. I'd like to compare the certifications to see the difference between them.

Was the trans orig? That stamp doesn't look so good!

Jerry stated that the assembly date spacing did not look right but the VIN looked good so he thought the trans was original.

My point being is this Z had no VIN on the block anywhere. Now it has. Also Jerry pointed out that most with this date had VIN on pad which it doesn't.

I am so sick of seeing this Z. This was my car. I had Jerry do the inspection. At that time there was no VIN stamped on the block. I have told this dealer that and they ignore me. Jerry stated in his report "Can I say that this is definitely the original engine to this vehicle? I can neither confirm nor deny it's authenticity."

67  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Z28 on eBay, Beautiful Hugger Orange Car, but Cowl Tag doesn't look right on: December 05, 2012, 05:25:21 PM
The grilles  look so much better in the correct argent finish.

I've never understood why so many people spend all that money on restorations and not paint the grille. There seem to be more wrong than right.
68  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Camaro Z28 Cowl Tag... Real? on: November 22, 2012, 10:11:01 PM
He says " The stripes are applied correctly." To bad the wrong color.

The other red flag is the seller stating the engine is, “The Correct Engine”. This usually means it isn’t original to the car.

Here's the eBay link; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261104056476&ssPageName=ADME:X:BOCOR:MOTORS:1123#ht_3745wt_1143

Beware of this seller. I asked him about the trim tag. He said it is real cause his brother bought this car new and that's the tag that came on it. Kinda funny cause a while back he had a black Z for sale and I question him on it and he said the same thing except a friend of his bought it new.

That seller always has Z's for sale on eBay. I think just about everyone I've seen him have listed is questionable.
71  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 1969 Z28 neg side terminal battery cable bolt on: November 09, 2012, 06:04:46 PM
I ended up rethreading my 3/8 bolt down to 5/16. Works like a charm.
72  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 1969 Z28 neg side terminal battery cable bolt on: November 06, 2012, 04:28:00 PM
Danny,

15 seconds in the Harbor Freight bead blast cabinet. I suppose it looks a little rough, but it ought to look dandy after replating. Note the bolt size is identical to the hex size.

Shame they don't make these anymore -

Steve

I called them and they get their cables from Factory Fit. I have talked to Factory Fit and they I formed me they use the
3/8 bolt in their cables.

Danny - if you need this cable let me know - I won't be using it in all likelihood since I can't be sure of the number for my application -
Regards,
Steve

Thanks I appreciate it but the bolt looks a little rough.
75  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: 1969 Z28 neg side terminal battery cable bolt on: November 05, 2012, 09:32:16 PM
Yes they do Danny cause one guy almost ruined my battery trying to put the wrong bolt in the wrong hole. He ruined the first 3 or 4 threads with the 5/16 when he tried to tightened it. Pulled them right out.  I was lucky as my disconnect had a longer bolt that went deep enough to catch the threads that were left deep in the hole.

Where did you get the cables?
