Thanks Rich,
        That helps, I'm talking about the check valve (line filter). The (line filter) part  pretty much tells me I should have it! I have orig. accuators which I think one leaks. Can they be rebuilt? The check valve I think will also solve my low vacum at idle problem.

Restoration / 68 396 rebuild

Hi,
  I'm getting ready to rebuild my motor. 68 396 / (325 I believe because of the my prefix). I haven't touched it in 21 years.
starting to puff at start-up (valve seals) and i'm pretty sure I have some bent pushrods (mechanic re-tightened 2 times loss of power evident).
  I'm going to attempt a back to orig. restoration. I have the orig.intake #3883948(came in trunk) according to prev. owner.
  Is there some one who will do this around NW Pennsylvania? I know most of the local re-builders and a few that want to do it but I really would like to do this right.
 Any tips would be appreciated.

I believe my cannister diaphram is leaking on pass. side. Can they be repaired? I also can't find the one way valve? Should I have one on my 68.My doors only work above an idle.

 my survey: 1a, 2a, 3b, 4g ,7#1, 8#1, 9 #3 10 nor , 11 02d , 12 396/ 325 hp not sure , 13124378n3896xx. Is it o.k. to put vin#s on board?

here is my 68 rs/ss 396. #'s were checked by an appaiser he said they are correct. no major resto . pass door and fender are not orig. due to accident. still has orig. floor and trunk.
survey questions are 1b 2a 3a 4g 7 have#1 same place 10 nor 11 feb(i have to confirm) I'll pull the cover off and offically answer survey this weekend.

 Thanks for the info. Phillip's picture is real close but mine has an ss insignia instead of the GM.

I'm pretty sure this is the orig. steering wheel (as most of the car is) , but people have told me it's not camaro but impala.
Have had the car for over 20 years.It's a 68 rs/ss 396.
