Originality / Refinish 68 trunk
« on: April 28, 2006, 01:08:40 AM »
I have 2 68's one a std car and the other a deluxe interior RS Z.  The one with the deluxe interior and RS has an extra sound deadening mat in the floor of the trunk as well as extra undercoating sprayed on the insides of the quarter paner of the trunk.  The question is this at what point was the trunk sprayed with the spatter paint?  Prior to when the mat and the undercoating were appllied or were the undercoating and mat added after (on top of the spatter paint)? The car also has a trunk mat.

The std car has a nice original never messed with trunk.  The deluxe interior RS car has been touched up.  Which leads to another question, which product best duplicates the original spatter paint?

Thank you for any help you can offer

Yes, deluxe interior with houndstooth.  Not that it matters on this subject but it's a Z/28.

Originality / 1968 Trunk Mat
« on: March 05, 2006, 06:32:26 PM »
My 68 Trunk mat is an origianl GM piece for sure.  However, the cutouts in the mat for the top of the shocks don't line up.  The holes for the shocks that are in the mat do not line up with the staggered shock locations that were introduced in 68.  Does this mean that I have a 67 mat or did GM just keep using the 67 mat in 68?   Also how should the mat fit around the gas filler neck?  I ask this as I have another mat, also original that is formed in another way for the tank filler?  Thanks for any help.  Bill D

Decoding/Numbers / 1968 Z/28 Jack instruction decal part number
« on: February 06, 2006, 11:47:16 AM »
I just saw in Rick's catalog that the jack instruction decal for a 68 Z/28 Camaro requires its' own specific decal PN 3909124, while all other coupes require a different part number? The other coupe PN's he shows are 3949516 (non SS) , and 3947628 (SS). Is this correct? Thanks for the help
