1  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: No partial VIN on blocks on: May 25, 2011, 12:45:15 PM
08D Partial VIN by the oil filter.
2  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Maintenance / Re: Multiple Clutch Issues on: March 18, 2011, 08:36:29 AM
Yip.  I have seen exactly that issue before.  I blamed it on bellhousing misalignment.  We'll see after the next teardown.
3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Does anyone know this guy out in New York that restores DZ carbs. on: March 15, 2011, 12:20:41 PM
Jerry is the answer.  Good turnaround and fantastic results.  Impressed.
4  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 010 Block Date code on: February 24, 2011, 02:15:45 PM
By the way, that M-Code block is from a very early '69--386 block.  What is funny is that a very early car is VIN stamped by the oil filter.

M-Code
6  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Bell housing alignment tool, anybody got one for sale? on: December 22, 2010, 05:01:27 PM
I have one.  Use the dial indicator.  Not quick and easy, far more accurate.  That's all I have to say about that.
7  Orphans - documentation or VIN-stamped drivetrains - in search of the original cars / 1969 - Orphans / Re: 69 SS 350/300hp engine-9N456375 on: September 29, 2010, 03:58:13 PM
Typo?  1969 Camaro vins start at 500001, right?
8  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Mild Modifications / Staggered shock 67? on: June 10, 2010, 01:55:25 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong.....If I use the lower plates and shocks from a 69, all should be happy with the world?  The car is already on multi leaf springs, but currently non staggered setup.  I really hate traction bars.  302 (not real) and Tremec falling in this weekend.  Thanks.  Dave
9  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 1969 Starter Motor Numbers on: October 04, 2007, 11:05:24 AM
Kurt--Tried to post pic, it got mad.  July 24 68 I believe.  If not I will correct in later post.  When it denied my photo it said somehting along the lines "cannot find path" or something like that.  I've posted pics before, did I do something wrong?  Dave

11  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 4053 DZ SPECS on: October 03, 2007, 10:09:39 AM
Didn't want to waste the time and money on a junk carb.  I measure with a precision hand drill bit set that never gets chucked.  Very accurate through .039 then it it goes fractional, so really close is what you get.  Thanks Vintage.  Dave
12  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 4053 DZ SPECS on: October 01, 2007, 10:13:03 AM
Came from a guy who ran it on an old 396 part time drag car.  From other examples of his handy work, I want to be sure.  Biggest concern is I want it for a 302 that is quite close to stock Z/28 specs, I know they worked very well, and I have it laying there just begging to be used.  Dave
13  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Mild Modifications / Re: 1968 camaro rear leaf springs on: September 27, 2007, 12:47:15 PM
If you don't mind the stiffness, send it to a good alignment shop and have them re-arched.  Dave
14  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / 4053 DZ SPECS on: September 27, 2007, 10:44:21 AM
I need to verify that a 4053 DZ carb is unmolested.  Does any body out there have the specs on idle feed restrictor and air bleed sizes?
15  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / 60 percent gloss on: May 27, 2007, 08:19:18 PM
What is the best spray can product for 60% gloss black?  If not a perfect product, the best compromise?  Dave
