« on: March 23, 2006, 12:04:16 AM »
Can somebody detail the differences between Z23 and Z87?  Is the deluxe upholstery the only difference?  Thanks, Dave.

Originality / Need 3953692 water pump
« on: March 18, 2006, 10:22:40 PM »
Needing a dated water pump from early H of 68.  All of my engine cast dates are H4 to H7.  Car build is 8D.  Engine build is 0816.  I know this is not an easy one to find as this is extremely early 1969 production and this was a new water pump.  Thanks,  Dave

When is the last time anybody has seen this?  It's so cool I don't think i can stand to use it.  No response necessary, I just think it's cool.  Dave

Originality / Harmonic Balancer
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:40:23 PM »
Do you have a breakdown of correct small block harmonic balancers?  Specifically for me 210hp 327 in 1969.  There are about 20 of them lying around here and I don't know which is which.  Thanks.  Dave

Restoration / A/C bracket spacers
« on: March 05, 2006, 07:05:37 PM »
Any body out there know where i can get the mount spacers to the A/C compressor?  One spacer goes to the exhaust manifold bracket and the other at the back of the compressor from intake bracket.  I have everything else.  One of the luxuries of buying a car someone else took apart....

Originality / Rally Wheels
« on: February 27, 2006, 03:27:52 AM »
Were rally wheels a part of any option group besides the Z28?  Z21 was simply a few moldings and the lower blackout on the 69, is this correct?  Dave

Restoration / Chassis and suspension component colors
« on: February 26, 2006, 07:26:47 PM »
Are all suspension and chassis components the same old GM chassis black that DuPont advertises?  Specifically front subframes, control arms, springs, rear axles, etc.  Thanks for any input.  Dave

General Discussion / EARLY 69 CAMARO
« on: February 21, 2006, 10:21:12 PM »
What is the earliest 69 in the database?  I have 500304 with some decent documentation of a base 327/pg combo.  8D by the way.  Dave

Decoding/Numbers / EARLY 69 NORWOOD ALTERNATE VIN
« on: February 20, 2006, 10:02:00 PM »
FROM YOUR RESEARCH TOPICS:

Engine Partial VIN stamping:
Some Van Nuys-built (LOS/VN) cars had the VIN stamped on the pad of the block and some had the VIN stamped down by the oil filter. Sometime in October of 1968, we believe the stamp was moved to the oil filter, but by sometime around February of 1969 we believe the stamp moved back up to the pad.
On Norwood cars, we believe the change to the stamping location did not occur until sometime around December 1968, and then did not move again.

We want to verify these general statements, and pinpoint more exactly when these changes occurred.

I HAVE A CAMARO VIN 124379N500304, BUILD DATE 8D.  OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A VERY EARLY 69 WITH 2BBL 327.  THE ALTERNATE VIN IS STAMPED UNDER THE OIL FILTER BOSS ON SIDE OF BLOCK IN ROUGH CAST AREA.  I HAVE MANY PHOTOS OF BLOCK, NUMBERS, ETC.  ALSO ENGINE CAST DATE IS M-8, EXPLAIN THAT.  I CAN SUPPORT ANY ADDITIONAL RESEARCH THAT YOU MAY WANT TO FOLLOW UP ON.
