Mild Modifications / Staggered shock 67?
« on: June 10, 2010, 06:55:25 PM »
Correct me if I'm wrong.....If I use the lower plates and shocks from a 69, all should be happy with the world?  The car is already on multi leaf springs, but currently non staggered setup.  I really hate traction bars.  302 (not real) and Tremec falling in this weekend.  Thanks.  Dave

General Discussion / 4053 DZ SPECS
« on: September 27, 2007, 03:44:21 PM »
I need to verify that a 4053 DZ carb is unmolested.  Does any body out there have the specs on idle feed restrictor and air bleed sizes?

Restoration / 60 percent gloss

What is the best spray can product for 60% gloss black?  If not a perfect product, the best compromise?  Dave

Restoration / Engine lift brackets
« on: May 27, 2007, 09:30:50 PM »
Does anyone have a correct photo of the engine lift brackets on the intake of a 69 327.  I assume all SB cars sould be the same.  Why do you never see these on a "restored" car?  I know this engine had them because they were in the same bag as all other intake hardware and they have two special bolts while missing two normal intake bolts.  Dave

Restoration / Overspray on A/C bracket?
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:12:35 PM »
Does anybody know of a more precise engine assembly order than Colvin's "By the numbers".  1969 Flint 327 with A/C rear compressor bracket to intake has orange overspray on it and I'm nearly sure it is original.  Does this mean all of these brackets were installed prior to engine paint?  Come to think of it one of the power steering pump brackets is the same story.  Dave

Restoration / Alternator fan and pulley finish

1969 327.  Correct finish for alternator fan and pulley?  Dave

Restoration / Water pump cast date
« on: May 10, 2006, 08:10:24 PM »
I have a 327 build date 0816 of 1968.  Looking for a cast date match water pump.  I found a June water pump, is this too early?  The reason I think this is acceptable is that this was a new for 1969 water pump and this car is very early production (8D).  Any and all input is greatly appreciated.  Dave

I want to add one to the database.  Dave

Restoration / What is this?
« on: April 23, 2006, 10:30:10 PM »
1969 Camaro 327 with PG.  I know it's off the oil pan rail, but I am drawing a blank.  Thanks, Dave

Restoration / The "perfect" orange
« on: April 23, 2006, 09:51:06 PM »
I know this will be a can of worms, but I have to ask.  What is the most correct engine orange available for 1969 Flint 327?  I would be thrilled to find it for spray gun operation (pint, quart) if possible.  Dave

Restoration / "TR" bolts
« on: April 23, 2006, 09:48:30 PM »
My 1969 327 had "L" head markings for valve cover bolts.  Everything I read and everybody says they should be "TR".  Should I buy the "TR" or stick to my guns?  Dave

Restoration / Engine paint
« on: April 22, 2006, 05:48:52 PM »
JohnZ recently noted that the vin pad was masked for painting.  Was it a great mask or just a piece of tape across it and you got what you got?  Any body have an original pic?  Dave

Restoration / 1969 Alternator date
« on: April 19, 2006, 11:29:23 PM »
On an 8D built Norwood car, I am assuming that any H date alternator would be suitable.  Correct?  Need 1100843 (327 with A/C), anybody got one in their pocket?

Restoration / 1969 327 engine details
« on: April 19, 2006, 11:24:46 PM »
This will be the first of many trivial questions to come.  On a Flint built 1969 327 I gather that the water pump was attached before the paint process, therefore the water pump bolts should be painted with the engine assembly.  Correct?  Original pics??  Thanks, Dave

Restoration / 2 Barrel carb tag
« on: April 09, 2006, 09:02:15 PM »
Does anybody know if there are reproduction carb tags available, or who could do it?  I will try to post a pic.  Dave
