2806  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: SS Non X Code Cars on: November 30, 2007, 02:39:52 AM
A 69 SS could have a powerglide or a 3 speed manual too. 69 SS powerglide cars often had 10 bolts.
Power steering was optional.
Could have XT wheels.
2807  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Distributor Date on: November 30, 2007, 02:32:32 AM
I pulled one out of a L48 that was a December motor with an earlier than your distributor. Use it. Smiley

Thanks Paul!  So noted.
2809  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: Assembly manuals on: November 29, 2007, 02:09:30 AM
I have actually seen the original AIM's.
Some day I may be able to clarify some hard to read data in them.....
2810  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: YH wheels on: November 29, 2007, 12:47:34 AM

They were also used on Monte Carlo's in 1970. When purchasing verify year designation as well.

Same wheel, but most of the Monte Carlo rally wheels were stamped "FW".
All the 71+ Monte wheels were FW. 70 Monte wheels were YH and are often on ebay.

Send him an email.

Rather than everyone asking for a copy on this board, send me an e-mail.

2812  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: "388" block on: November 29, 2007, 12:37:44 AM
Production seems to be about evenly split between 388 and 618 blocks (both were made about the same timeframes).
2813  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: I have seached the site........but......... on: November 29, 2007, 12:25:18 AM
Corrected (and clarified):
The date that the block was made is cast into the rear of the block (where the bellhousing bolts up), right behind the distributor boss.

I assume that's correct for BB too, but can't easily confirm.

Anyone know which side of the block for the big blocks that "have the cast date next to the engine mounts, near the freeze plugs"?
2814  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: red hockey stripe on 69 and hounds tooth on: November 20, 2007, 02:58:59 AM
Because the rules for vinyl top cars were different from convertibles. Go figure......

Can you post a pic of the stipe ticks? I'm not quite following....
2815  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Yutivo Camaro Finds New Home on: November 15, 2007, 11:29:51 PM
Congratulations! The 68 Yutivos seem to be the hardest to find. What color is it?
When you get a chance, could you send me a picture of the VIN tag? It also has the color and interior codes on it.
We'd also be interested in any of the drivetrain (engine, trans, axle) codes. http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml

And I assume you've seen: http://www.camaros.org/yutivo.shtml

Thanks!!
2816  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 388 block casting date vs build date on: November 15, 2007, 11:19:55 PM
I'd like a picture of the engine pad, if possible. Smiley

Thanks!
2817  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: I have a 12 bolt question on: November 15, 2007, 01:39:38 AM
I concur, it's a 70 Nova axle. Will fit fine in a 67-9 Camaro. Smiley
2818  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: red hockey stripe on 69 and hounds tooth on: November 11, 2007, 11:51:00 PM
Ron,
All the color relationships are documented in the exterior color decode section, including the exceptions.
Just one of these exceptions (#4) is being rightfully questioned.
2819  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: orphan list question on: November 11, 2007, 11:47:57 PM
That's what the search function is for. Smiley
Don't search for the complete VIN, just the last 8, e.g. 7N123456.
2820  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Correct Carb 69 396 325hp on: November 08, 2007, 10:10:15 PM
I do not think that's the correct carb for an auto car.
