John, was the 6618 block used in any other Chevy applications besides the Z28?

Thanks, Chris

Yes, that block was used on MANY other car and truck applications from '69-'76.
Correction, that block was used on other car and truck applications in 69. It's a 69 only block.
2808  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: What date heads should '69 Z/28 have?? on: November 06, 2006, 01:27:46 AM
I'm confused. What's wrong with the current heads?

Per judging standards they'd be OK. But too early, IMO.
2809  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 Z database on: November 06, 2006, 01:17:03 AM
No, a lot of early cars had that marking.
Yes, wasn't used at LA.

I was told that the orange mark indicated the center of the weatherstripping... and that it was supposed to be offset to the right... guess that was not 100%.
Most orange centering marks are offset to the right; doesn't mean they were supposed to be that way. Smiley

Rotation #/ sequence #. Tracking # used internal to the plant, started at 1 every day.

So Steve had to open that can of worms. Smiley
Yenko only made the 5 colors (DY, HO, FG, LB, & OG) in 69. But Douglas Chev in Chicago had the rights from Yenko to buy the cars from Chevrolet directly and stripe them as Yenkos. Douglas Yenkos were ordered in other colors; a white one is for sale right now.

I'll ask the same questions I asked above:
How many fuel lines and what's the axle code (see sketch under Decoding)?
What's the VIN?
2814  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Early 1969 z/28 (short spoiler) on: October 31, 2006, 12:59:32 AM
Thanks Dave, I stand corrected. Smiley
2815  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Original Air Cleaner for 69 SS on: October 31, 2006, 12:57:11 AM
I was responding specifically to the 'chrome engine dress-up package' option, which never existed.

69 SS350 would have a chrome air cleaner (same one as a LM1 and there's a pic of one in the LM1 article) and painted steel valve covers.

Just from those pics, I'd tend to say it's been repainted. Never seen a stripe on the cowl taped at the bottom like that....

Is the wiper linkage white?
2817  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 69 firewall identification mark questions on: October 30, 2006, 11:46:35 AM
Probably the rotation #, 24.
2818  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Original Air Cleaner for 69 SS on: October 30, 2006, 11:41:37 AM
there certainly was, thanks
OK, if you think there was a chrome engine dress-up option, what is the Regular Production Option (RPO) #??

That option never existed for 69 Camaros so you'll have some problems finding it.....
2819  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Starter part number on: October 30, 2006, 11:34:40 AM
Yes, I'm pretty sure that's the correct #.
2820  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: Fish story or not??? on: October 27, 2006, 11:54:38 PM
Yenko bought the casting rights to the ZL1 block in the mid-70's and cast those blocks for several years.
Someone just installed one in a 69, didn't leave the factory that way.....
