Probably because they only incremented the main gang stamp every 100 parts. The last 2 digits were then added by hand.

Thanks!
Is this car for sale somewhere or being discussed and I just haven't seen it?

I'm looking in the CRG database. We have several 69 L35 cars that we have data on the the original carb. I also confirmed it via broadcast sheets.

Paul,
Do you have a VIN for that tag?

Thanks!
Kurt

every book l've been reading is showing the 7049200 as the carb used for the 69 L34 325 hp. what publication are you getting the 7049204 from? thanks
I'm not. 204 is what is actually on original cars. Never seen a 200 on an original car.

Just don't carry any tools.
2812  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: oil pressure line on: May 15, 2007, 11:17:17 PM
Let's see.
One of our test vehicles burnt to the ground with a copper line for a fuel pressure guage that work hardened and broke. The fire got hot enough that it melted the wheels off the car....

And I had a test vehicle that I was driving and the oil pressure line work hardened and broke. It poured out a lot of smoke, but I got lucky and it didn't catch fire and I didn't ruin the motor (special cam / lifter test vehicle no less).

A copper line is a bad idea.....

Kurt I agree that is a possibility also thanks. whats the ff stand for?
Possibility? Which, the date or the carb #? The carb # is the correct one. I believe the L34 auto used the same carb, but I can't confirm it, yet.
The 7029200 is not the correct carb.
2814  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 RS z/28 Barn Find on: May 15, 2007, 10:48:48 PM
Houndstooth wasn't available in convertibles except for the pacecars, I beleive both the orange and yellow houndstooth was announced as being available in Feb or 69 for coupes only.
Good catch Mark. All cars here means all coupes and the Indy pacers. Smiley

The 386 block is an early 69 block and the cast date supports that. But that VIN is too high. Maybe 9N571050 ??
2816  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Correct Carb 69 396 325hp on: May 15, 2007, 02:43:22 PM
Unfortunately, there's some confusion in the various references on this carb.
The correct # 7029204 FF.
The date could even be a week closer (about 1019).
2817  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69 RS z/28 Barn Find on: May 15, 2007, 09:15:55 AM
When was this orange hounds tooth deluxe interior offered on non-Indy Pace Cars?  Early, mid, or late builds?
It was available for all cars at the same time. About Feb. 69.
It would appear that the pacers drove it's availability.

Thanks Paul!
You're doing a nice job of documenting these ebay items.
2819  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: YH wheel dates correct for my Z? on: May 12, 2007, 11:13:25 PM
Your car was built about 4/22-23.
That's a too close, IMO.

Tom,
That note also shows up on the mid-year ordering info.
Special Performance Package = Z28 = white stripes. Smiley
