Decoding/Numbers / Re: Help with verification 69 z28 ?

April 15th. It's not original to the car. If the casting # ends in 341, then it is a 70 axle - and probably is then stamped CBT.

Most Hugger Orange cars with tops had black tops vs white tops, about a 7:1 ratio.

#'s look fine.

A638 - Fisher didn't always follow the regular calendar, but the body was probably started about Nov 1.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Another 69 RS question
« on: April 20, 2009, 04:16:04 AM »
... the X33 and X77 codes on a Z/28 have nothing to do with the RS package - they just indicate whether the car had the Z-21 Style Trim Group (X33) or not (X77). The only way to verify an RS car is to dig for presence of all the "clues".
But the original poster was correct. It's gotta be a X33 to be an RS. But John's point is an X33 doesn't prove an RS.

That's an avatar issue, not a general picture issue.

The forum is having problems resizing avatars if they are over 65x65 pixels. So if you upload them 65x65 or smaller, they will work fine.
Larger ones will depend on the forum programming being addressed....

Kurt,
That's your call, it's your block, whatever you choose.  ;D

The Yenko VIN's (and many other COPO VIN's) are out there and people don't invent a car with the VIN to match.
Faking blocks to match a car is easy vs faking a car to match a block. And they would risk having 2 cars out there with the same VIN. Not to say it doesn't happen, but I can't recall a faked car like that. (There have been faked VIN's, but they started with an original stripped body, IIRC.)   :)

Full VIN: 123377N171248 B
Dealer: Myers Chevrolet, Newport Tn. Jan.20 1967. It was a 6 cyl. car with a powerglide.

Paul,
I wasn't even obliquely referring to you.
Just commenting on the different approaches of some forums to posting. :)

Post away!

I've seen a couple of sites where all they do is post to increase their post count. It really is a contest.
It's strange -  lots of posts, very little added value.
