General Discussion / Re: 1969 driveshafts
« on: January 20, 2024, 02:37:51 AM »
I am only trying to find out what is the correct driveshaft for a 396 4 speed 69 Camaro.
That's simple - you need the same driveshaft that was used on half of the 69 Camaros, part # 3945540. I know because I confirmed via broadcast codes. The Legends manual is incorrect.
I've looked at the original drawing for the 3945540 (and lots of other driveshafts too) - that is where the 32* comes from.

There is one bad color - medium green interior. Sorry, that one doesn't work.

I assume you haven't seen this: http://www.camaros.org/driveshaft.shtml

That said I do appreciate the hard work put in to the documentation of the Camaros.  You do a good job at that.   I may even return to help out the site w/a donation.   Take it easy for now.
My post was to explain why we moderate like we do. Hopefully you'll stay around and continue to participate in the discussions. :)

I completely support Bryon on this one. I also was going to edit out that comment.
This forum has maintained a civil tone for literally decades. This is due to members refraining from posting inflammatory comments. It's not uncommon for forums to ban one or two people a month. Just look at facebook to see where we could be. It's been years since we've needed to ban someone.

Rich wrote this in a forum post almost 20 years ago and it addresses your concerns concisely.
"....please be aware that this is not a democratic forum (in the dictionary sense of the word).  You have no inherent right to post here - you post at the whim and discretion of the CRG....."

We moderate with a very light touch IMO, but we do moderate.

I haven't heard that anyone has investigated other usages. They may have used the same part, or not.

General Discussion / Re: Norwood build sheet location
« on: January 07, 2024, 07:38:57 PM »
The majority of 67-69 Camaros with broadcast sheets had the sheet mixed in with other paperwork - few were found in the car (excepting 69 LOS cars with the sheet on the gas tank).

Originality / Re: Unicorn option help ? D88
« on: January 03, 2024, 06:42:13 PM »
1. Yes, it's the unicorn option. Zero production total via GM documentation. I kinda recall that it was to only be available on certain colors.
I've seen two cars with it - both had it added.
I don't know what to make of the GM of Canada document, but the two stripes are incompatible - it would have came with D90. http://www.camaros.org/exterior.shtml#stripes
G31 is also a rare option.

2. M11 with small block changes it from a 3-speed column shift (3 on the tree) to a 3-speed floor shift.
M11 with BB is a different beast.

JohnZ said that the linkage was installed later, after paint. Most that I've seen do not have stripe paint on them.
Plant sequencing difference, repair, etc - there was something that caused this to vary.

Dave and Ben Wenzel are the original owners of that 67 Z and still race it!

Wiper arms were installed after the cowl was painted, so there should be no overspray on them.

Thanks! That is one more datapoint that confirms what was put into the head report:
> The 3947041 was a Tonawanda casting that was used in the L48 engines built at Tonawanda. The 3927186 head was used for the Flint-built L48 and Z28 applications.
