I'd also be interested in a pic of the pad. No hurry. :)

1024 is one of the last dates observed. I've seen one later date.
Did it have the original distributor?

Simple, design of the block changed and the block # changed to track it.

The block useages overlapped.
The 388 block is an early block.

5 of them. Out of over 300 DY cars. So not real common.

Originality / Re: Door certification decal
« on: October 26, 2009, 04:22:50 PM »
Per the GM factory assembly manual this tag was located on the door of '69s.
Yes, that's true. But it's well documented that it was a late change in 69, not all year. Bill provided approximate timing (see above) of the change.

You could just deck Kevin's block and be mostly correct. It wouldn't have the wrong pad stamp, just no pad stamp. :)

3932386 and 3932388 and 3956618 would all work. If you're trying to get it close, you gotta go by the casting date.

Originality / Re: 1968 Powerglide same for 6cyl.-8cyl.?
« on: October 11, 2009, 05:56:27 PM »
There were two main versions of the powerglide in 68 for Camaro:
L6 and 327/210 - 1.82 first
L30 and SS350 - 1.76 first

Nova housings should be the same as Camaro. Not sure on the others.

The dimensions of all the Camaro powerglides were the same. It was just internal changes, mainly the torque converter and maybe the valve body.

As the verbage indicates, those blocks are listed in order, though there was alot of overlap.

You'd have to find an early 618 block for your car.

Almost every piece of metal will have the stamp - brackets, door mounting plates, etc.

Restoration / Re: 69 Z Voltage Regulator
« on: October 09, 2009, 06:35:13 AM »
Why do I have it in my mind that there might be some rubber expansion mounts behind the regulator, like they use on one side of a radiator???? Am I just loosin it?

-Mark.

Well nuts were not used on 69's.
I don't think that's true. IIRC, early 69's had the well nuts and a ground wire.
