Research Topics & Reports / 1967 Camaro radius rod research
« on: January 23, 2010, 03:04:17 PM »
I just updated the radius rod article, http://www.camaros.org/radiusrod.shtml, with new pics (thanks Ron!) and new information. But we really don't have a lot of clarity in the data, especially for the first cars that used radius rods.
We are looking for more information from any SS, Z, or L30/M20 that was made Dec 66 or later. Especially SS350 cars made in December or January and L30/M20 cars made in December thru March.

You can email the information below to either me or Daniel (CamaroDan@juno.com) or to post it on this thread.
The information that we're looking for is:
1) Build date
2) Model (SS350, L35, L78, Z28, or L30/M20)
3) Does your car have a radius rod? If so, round or rectangular?
4) If not, does it have either the body bracket or the axle bracket?
5) VIN (Feel free to email if you don't want to post it. We need to the VIN to be able to sort and reference the data. It will not be published or released in any form.)

Helpful extra credit (esp for the early SS350 and L30/M20 cars). :)
6) Axle date (e.g. QJ0421G1). See http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#axle for the location.
7) Do you have any documentation for the car?

Thanks for the help!!

General Discussion / 67 axle / radius rod picture request
« on: January 04, 2010, 11:24:01 PM »
I'm updating the radius rod article and would like to illustrate the difference between the two designs of axle brackets (one for the rectangular rod, one for the round rod).
I'd like a few pictures of the brackets on 67 axles. I think some side and rear shots of the bracket would show the difference, but I'm not clear the exact differences myself. ;)
Rectangular rod axles should be under L78, Z28, L35/manual, and later L48/manual cars. The others should be round rod brackets.

Thanks for the help!

Site Comments/Discussion / Forum member status names - input requested
« on: October 02, 2009, 03:13:22 AM »
I've had several requests from people to change their 'status' (e.g. veteran, newbie, Jr. member, etc). Maybe it's time to redo the 'status' system.

When members moved from the old forum to the new forum, their status was made as veteran.

The status of everyone else is based on the # of posts:
Newbie             0
Jr. Member       50
Full Member     100
Sr. Member      250
Hero Member   500

Any suggestions on better names for the status names?
I'll probably also remove the veteran classification to make the system the same for everyone.

General Discussion / Vintage assembly plant videos
« on: August 26, 2009, 07:33:28 AM »
I just found these videos on Youtube. The first set is Fisher. The second set is Pontiac, but the same basic timeframe and process. Some great footage!!
Nice overview of the process. I've never seen the interior trim parts being made. Great footage of the paint spraying.

1970 Fisher (one of four):

1971 Pontiac (first of eight):

That Youtube guy also has a bunch of interesting Chevy commercials...

General Discussion / Option ID'ing
« on: July 22, 2009, 05:12:50 AM »
I added some info on how to ID which options were originally on a car. Feel free to correct any errors.

Took long enough - I started this back in 2001 or 2002!

General Discussion / Updated site info
« on: March 24, 2009, 09:24:27 PM »
JohnZ updated his assembly article with some new schedule info and repair info. I added several factory pictures that I've been collecting over the years and put internal hyperlinks in the article (I've also been adding the internal hyperlinks to other articles). http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml

I also redid the trans page with some crossmember information and eliminated the FAQ format.

General Discussion / SB vs BB crossmember picture
« on: February 22, 2009, 10:07:17 PM »
Anyone have a picture that shows the difference between the SB and BB crossmember?
Something like this picture, but clearer. :)

Also would be interested in a picture that compares the BB and the Firebird crossmembers.

The pictures would be used on the http://www.camaros.org/trans.shtml page and the photographer would be acknowledged. (So if they aren't your pics, we need to be able to get permission to use them.)

Thanks!

Site Comments/Discussion / Forum registration issue
« on: February 03, 2009, 12:54:40 AM »
For new people trying to sign up, there is a verification issue with the CRG forum. It appears that the server can't send the emails to confirm the registration email address. Looks like the problem occurred around 1/26.

If you've signed up but can't complete the process, email me and I can do it manually.

Test Drive / Posting pictures information
« on: February 01, 2009, 04:14:17 PM »
You can upload pictures directly from your hard drive by using the "Attach" box. The "Attach" box shows when posting a new topic or a reply, but not when using "Quick Reply". Images must be 200kB or smaller - if they're larger, re-size them.

Or you can host them on a photo site (Photobucket, Village Photos, etc.) and put the url or img link to the picture(s) in your post.

3/2022
I added some software to the site that allows for larger pictures and it automatically downsizes the pictures. Seems to work pretty well, but if the original photo is really large, the compression may still be larger than the 200kB limit. It will either tell you that or it may show an error.
btw, it automatically downsizes the pictures to 1024 wide x 800 high (or whichever is greater), so that fit on the screen better.
